Washington man wins lottery twice in 24 hours

Washington Lottery

Talk about having a lucky day.

Cary Collings of Puyallup, Washington, had just such a day, when he won the lottery not once, but twice, within 24 hours.

The 61-year-old first won $55,555 in the "Red Hot 5"s" scratch-off ticket lottery on June 14.

Collings purchased his scratch card on Thursday as he filled up his car at the River Road Food Mart on River Road in Puyallup, Washington.

He scratched it off at the traffic lights and realized it was worth $55,555.

The next morning after claiming his prize money at Washington's Lottery Federal Way office, he stop to get a pizza for lunch. While he was waiting for his pie, he went to the Fred Meyer next door and bought three "Bring on Bens" scratch-off tickets.

As luck would have it, the first ticket proved to be a winner, and Collings raked in another $200,000.

Collings has played Washington Lottery since it launched in 2004 but those two tickets were the first time he had ever won a significant amount.

Collings said he plans to use the funds from his first win to pay off debt and has yet to decide what to do with the rest of his winnings, but he did say he plans to return to his job at the Boeing Auburn plant.

In my humble opinion:

Good Luck makes the rounds and comes to everybody at a time of it's own choosing or happenstance.

Everybody goes through periods of Good Luck.

Your Good Luck may manifest itself in winning a jackpot if you are fortunate enough to be holding a lottery ticket when it comes around.

Or if you don't have a lottery ticket in hand, it may prevent you from being run over by a garbage truck.

It's the reason I'm in on every draw no matter the jackpot size cuz I don't know when it's coming my way.

But when it does I'll be there, ticket in hand.

Don't scratch and drive. Not only is it messy, but it could be real messy if you cause an accident and blow all your winnings on lawsuits and medical bills.

I wish I could win just once in a 24 hour period.

If you have an itch to scratch you will scratch anywhere even though its against the Law. His itch won him serious scratch.

Why are you so hung up on the age of the winners.  Does it really matter if you are 18, 32, 61 or 85?  And when did 61 become elderly???

Congratulations to the double winner that is really awesome!!

His itch to scratch in the car had nothing to do with the win. He bought the right ticket, that's what won. If he scratched in the store or scratched at home it would have resulted in the same outcome. There's no need to scratch in the car at a stoplight. I always practice safe scratch. Wink

In case you want to know my track record the most i ever won in any 24hr period is $16,000 and the most i ever lost in any 24hr period is $1,000 well i tried to push my luck further from the $16,000 win it didn't go as planned or that guy winning twice in 24hrs but in seven days period the most i won is $25,000 well the same number i won with 26 times in kentucky on a friday night also gave me another 20 winning tickets with the same number in michigan the following friday night but i won't tell you the lucky number it was because have made over $56,000 in two years with just one cash3 number in over 10 states i play it straight and combo on fridays mostly. And after winning $10,000 in michigan on a friday night l went to two stripp clubs in battle creek michigan one on the west side they were too fat so l went to the other on the east side to finish the night with better therapy and i spent another $1,000 on lap dance . Sounds stupid but i had a rush and needed to burn some steam was in the vip room with a cute tigeress on the east side strip club , she took me to deep space without help from NASA so it was worth it and safely done. l had my face slapped all night but i will plead the 5th amendmentWink in telling you with what lol.Cool
