If you had won, would they still be horrible?
Yes they would still be horrible because your probably only going to win the $30 back and you can win that with a $5 ticket.
If that's the case, then why did you buy the $30 tickets in the first place?
Btw, I wasn't ridiculing you (as JonD erroneously believes, he has a tendency to do that ) or even downplaying those who have bad luck. I was simply commenting that your attitude would be different if you were on the other side (i.e. winning a lot).
And I would rather ride the short bus with a few winners (in life) than the long bus with a bunch of losers (in life).
If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?
2013: -35.14% (158 tickets) || 2014: +40.74% (16 tickets) || 2015: ??? (haven't tallied yet but am down LOL)
P&L % = Total Win($)/Total Wager($) - 1
