I liked the part about the big house with a big lawn and the riding lawnmower. Nothing outlandish and probably just a passing thought over the years of "if I win I am going to have..." Teach one of those grandkids to use that mower and be responsible along with doing a good job...Congrats to you and your family. Enjoy retirement !!!

LOL, what a great story. Here's to Mr. Davila riding off into the sunset on his riding lawn mower.  Hurray!

Great story.  He looks fabulous for being 70!  It still disturbs me:  "With one-time cash options, the Illinois Lottery also keeps 25 percent of the prize".  It is Illinois after all, and the state may just have decided to tax lottery winnings at 25%.  *yikes*

I think the article was referring to the 25% Federal withholding but I wouldn't put anything pass the mob that runs that state.

Maybe Todd could clear this up. Sure sounds like the lottery wants their share. "Illinois Lottery also keeps 25 percent of the prize".

70!! Well sure has hell isn't going to be taking the annuityLOL! I'm surprised he didn't have a heat attack when he found out he won. It's easy to say that at his age he didn't need the money, but the luck of the draw determined otherwise I suppose.LOL

I went back and re-read the article and it does sound confusing. The article stated "will be given nearly $127 million after federal and state tax withholdings" and is immediately followed by "with one-time cash options, the Illinois lottery also keeps 25 percent of the prize".

This does indeed sound like the Illinois lottery keeps another 25%.
