If nobody won it we should know within an hour or so but I'm pretty sure it's probably going to be another 3-4 hours if somebody won it

I heard a news reporter say that they are only waiting on the territories to report but don't know the validity of that statement at this point.

If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?

Ok, so maybe you didn’t get all five of the numbers, plus the red Powerball. But did anyone?

Not in California, according to California Lottery Spokesman Alex Traverso. However, six tickets were sold in the Golden State with five of the numbers, but no Powerball.

The California winning tickets were sold at the following locations:

      • 7-Eleven, located at 4193 Central Avenue in Fremont (Alameda County)
      • Parkwood Gas & Food, 1612 West Hammer Lane in Stockton (San Joaquin County)
      • Nice Market, located at 3794 Highway 20 in Nice (Lake County)
      • Hassan #38, located at 32842 Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point (Orange County)
      • Primm Valley Lotto, located at Interstate 15 & Stateline NV in Nipton (San Bernardino County)
      • Stateline Service, located at 65845 Cima Road in Mountain Pass (San Bernardino County)

It's probably close to the truth, though. They always are "living on Island Time" over there. Slow as sea turtles I tell you.

Wow interesting....this is really changing the dynamic of the PB now if no one wins...as their twitter says.

Now we await the official news

Why would I remove that word?  That's exactly how the payments are made.  They increase each year.

If you're weren't aware of that, go to the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega and click the Annuity Payment Schedule link next to your state.

            Confused

Oh dear, Todd, it recently dawned on me that I even had the wrong jackpot game! I was thinking of the biggest competitor of Powerball, Mega Millions; the way it formerly paid the annuity annually in a non-increasing method.  Sorry.

Having several millions of dollars in my financial accounts means receiving several valuable services each day!

sales were probably around $900m for this draw - TX estimated $810m for a $914M jackpot or something

I looked at up how much the cash value went up and from that it looks to me it would be about 800 million in sales. But i think the formula i used is off a bit because the last drawing using it there were about 50 million more in sales then what i figured so i think you might be pretty close.

I keep seeing no winners...... hmm.. how hard is it to check if there's a winner on a computerized system?

Very hard when you got millions of Americans taking a shot at a dream.

The lottery is NOT a tax on the poor.  By calling it a tax, you are calling it mandatory, which is what taxes are.  But the lottery is NOT mandatory, therefore calling it a tax highly inaccurate.

If there were no winner, do you think sales would be considerably bigger? I gotta imagine some people spent too much and will realize that mistake for the next draw and others just tapped out all their discretionary spending lol

Considering how there are tens of thousands of PB retail/print machines and that usually they can know in a just a couple hours its pretty <snip> amazing.

We are too eager to know results right away...especially this time with MILLIONS more tickets sold probably

Depends how many tickets were sold in each state plus I'm sure they're double checking lol any errors would be a catastrophe
