I was not opposed to 1 single winner, but with this massive amount had I won I would be relieved to share at least the attention. Unless I had won in an 100% anonymous state.

I'm glad its ovah!

Congratulations to the jackpot winners and the 81 million dollar winners.

Did anyone hear about this? I read it on RT.

"Despite the celebrations and excitement, the game is experiencing scandal, multiple criminal investigations, and high-profile resignations.

It all came to a head when Powerball's security director Eddie Tipton was caught and convicted for rigging a draw through a backdoor hack and sending his brother to collect the winnings.

Tipton is currently serving 10 years in prison.

Charles Strutt, Powerball's original employee and long-time director, quietly resigned late last year following Tipton's conviction.

And in a weird twist, Munford, one of this week's winning towns, is in Tipton County. [my note: that's the one sold in TN]"

A great example of a totally clueless reporter irresponsibly writing an article.  I like how the facts about Eddie Tipton are just woven into things that have nothing to do with him.  Really bad reporting.  Hopefully whatever website published that does not have a big readership so they don't mislead too many people.

Many people are not feeling too good this morning.

I know I'm not. I got the sick feeling in my stomach, and everything.

What's worse is that I never expected to win. Nor the 2nd prize.

Worse than that, I'm going to continue playing this coming Sunday.

You can set up a trust in TN. That's how you remain anonymous. The last winner, after the matrix change, did just that.

May the balls bounce in your favor!

The jp winners don't need any congratulations.

                  Why would they?

They bought their tickets like I and 207 Million others did. I've not checked my numbers, but I guarantee you I'm not of the top 3.

Do you think those winners will ever give you anything.

                    KILL ME!!

4 - Day my daughter was born
8 - daughter will be 8 years old in February
                    19 - Number I've always played (representing the 1900s)
                    27 - age I got diabetes
34 - how old I was when my daughter was born

10 -  Fish (Chinese-Cuban Charade I take my numbers from)  -  A big bag of fish fell on my foot the other day when I opened the darn freezer.  Hurt like hell!

Seems those were important numbers I should've played for this historic jackpot.  I'm bound to win this thing:  https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/265134 LOL

Wouldn't this "nested trust" strategy give up a lot of the winnings in taxes?

Say the prize was 254M annuity, so about 152.5M lump sum...

Assuming no state tax on lottery winnings and no contributions to charity and at todays tax rates...

The first trust will pay 39.6% in Fed tax, so 60,390,000 in taxes and 92,110,000

The grantor of the trust (assuming the lawyer that "claims" the prize for you) will need to pay a 40% gift tax to gift the money to the second trust

I'm assuming the lawyer will not use his personal estate tax exemption on you, so...40% of 152.5M again...leaving about 31,110,000

Now once the money goes to the 2nd trust, depending how you distribute the money, you will be taxed at your tax bracket for the money, so if you decide to take it all out of the second trust in one distribution that would leave you about $18,666,000...

Obviously I'm just simplifying the taxes here, and there could be some ways to shelter some of this (ie. a CLAT or CRAT), but in the end it seems a lot to pay for the anonymity...

My state sucked, I don't even think there were any 4+0 or 4+1 winners at all LOL!

Oh well back to normal low jackpots.  The one major advantage you have to winning a < $100,000,000 jackpot is that no one cares!LOL

Lol, I'll take one of those "low" jackpots....funny, people actually look at that kind of money that way after seeing huge JP's...and I can tell you without a doubt, if I or someone in my home town won one of those measly little 90 million ones, people would care....a lot! :)

But, just cuz the JP is lower, the odds are still the same....darn it :)
