The lessons that I learned from this jackpot.

      -Start playing casually.

-With the money that I save by playing casually, invest it.

btw, congrats to all the folks that won something. :)

Spain has a raffle, it's not a jackpot.

        To-MAY-toe, To-MAH-toe.

It was the biggest PRIZE ever awarded.....to date.

        The wording is irrelevant.

          Another gem from this reporter;

"The largest lottery jackpot the world has ever seen has been won Wednesday night by three tickets sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee".

NO.  The jackpot WAS NOT won by "three tickets".............

It was won by three persons who bought tickets in Cali, TN, and FL.

I thought you had to go to school to be a writer.....

Good to see that there were at least three winning tickets. Naughty

Do We know  yet  if any of three consisted of individuals or lottery pools?

Heard that pools with over 10 players would need to set up an LLC  to distribute the money to all the pool members

as Power Ball will only pay out up to ten names per winning ticket.

            Wink

Thinking the LLC's may be changing now too.  I was watching CBS this morning and they had a story about people here in the U.S. buying luxury real estate through LLC's to hide not only their identities but the money they are using.  There is a lot of fraud involved and LLC's and shell companies is another way for them to hide their evil ways.

Now I am not saying being a lottery winner and using a LLC to protect your identity is illegal but once the government gets involved, things are going to change.

            http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/14/us/us-will-track-secret-buyers-of-luxury-real-estate.html?_r=0

Hope posting the link to the story is not against the rules.  If so I apologize.

Change of subject:  I notice people complaining about large fonts and I am one who used them only because small fonts are hard to read and find my typos fwiw.

It was the biggest prize pool maybe, but not the biggest jackpot.

The wording is not irrelevant as the top prize is GUARANTEED to be paid to more than 1 ticket.

No one person can win the "jackpot" unless they buy ALL tiickets with that numer which would cost them a fortune whereas with Powerball you can win 1.5B$ for a 2$ investment.

That number varies from state to state.  CA allows 100 people.  I was on their website a few days  ago and read about it.

I know I'm not. I got the sick feeling in my stomach, and everything.

What's worse is that I never expected to win. Nor the 2nd prize.

Worse than that, I'm going to continue playing this coming Sunday.

What? You're sick because no one is gonna give you $250,000, $500,000, then later $1,000,000???

Your whining and begging for money from people on a forum was making us sick.

Well,  l did call it. I said California would win, l also said " 3 way split". Now if only I can bone up on my skills as a tribute to my intuition and call it All  for me!

69 actually, since lower tier Powerball prizes are para-mutuel in California. The 12 California winners lost out and will only receive $638,146 before taxes. Still a bundle though.

It's even worse for CA 3rd tier winners who instead of receiving $50,000 will only get about 1/4 that, before taxes: $13,903.

While 2nd & 3rd tier California winners are getting short-changed, they still won far more than the vast, vast majority of other Powerball players.

Makes no sense why they do that. Even the 7 Eleven owner got a mill.

I just woke up and read the headlines. I saw that tn had a winner. I ran to the kitchen to check my tickets. I got 2 plus powerball. I guess I have to go back to work. Lol

It's good that you can maintain a humor about the situation. Otherwise, I'm in the same boat as you.  I didn't win diddly. But, I have yet to check the no-tax state I play in, for the 2nd prize.  I've not even looked at the numbers I played with slip or randomly.  See, I played a few tickets in this lame state,An as well as the no-tax state.

I just know I'm not winner of prize 1.  I'm bummed out, BIG TIME.
I knew I wasn't going to win, but something in the back of my mind, just kept nagging at me:

"Hey, get ready for a big prize." and "You're gonna win.".

That's the last time I check my fortune cookie at the Chinese restaurant I frequent.

And, with these odds, I suspect we'll see a few more billy jack pots.
