after the lump sum payment the three off them will get around $135 million, more or less ,after taxes.  Gloria M is till the reigning champ

I don't know where you sourced, BUT I DON'T BELIEVE YOU.

HOW CAN THAT BE?

HOW CAN YOU EVEN JOKE ABOUT THAT,
WHEN YOU MUST HAVE SEEN OTHER PRIZE WINNERS IN THE PAST?

Were any of the winners quick picks?

A few years back I read a small book on lottery winnings and it identified, at that point in time, that 71% of the big winnings were quick pick.  CNBC had a story a few days back and commented that today it's around 90%.  I've been getting quick pick most of the time I buy tickets.

the cash value is about $990 million. Divide that by the three of them, and then subtract the federal tax. Those 3 states don't; have any state tax.

actually it's about $ 200 million each. my Calculation was off. but Gloria M still holds the record for $590 million.

Good, this nonsense is all over and things can return to normal. I really think the last few large jackpots have really desensitized people. Even though this was $1.5 billion, the reaction today from people seems to be pretty muted. Everyone seems to be moving on and not that many people seem to be that interested in who won, not like it was in the past when these monster jackpots first started.

Makes no sense why they do that. Even the 7 Eleven owner got a mill.

Good point. And crazy thing is the owner didn't even have to buy a ticket - simply sell the winner. Plus the owner, as with other lottery retailers, receives commission for selling tickets. A win, win for them. While California match-5 players got short-changed again. I'm amazed the CA para-mutuel law hasn't been changed yet, though I've read there being much discussion of the issue over the years.

Well yeah, it is for winners, but not everyone else.

                    LOL

Three winners, no surprise. Pleasantly surprised at how many second prize winners! That's fantastic!

Many Congrats to all the winners, families, and the winners favorite charities!

Thank you Todd for all your hard work. It's been fun!

To the rest of us, better luck next time. Another day, another lottery drawing! Smile

Pick 4 is one thing, but the PB numbers are drawn in Florida. Nobody in Tennessee is drawing numbers for PB.

You're doing better than me. I've never been able to hit a straight on Pick 4.

Congratulations to Ca, Fl, Tn!!!!  Glad it was split out to 3's!!!   Bill Gates could of gotten the ticket with every # drawn if it was only 1 winner and still profit from the change,  he doesn't need it tho, LOL.

Well, it's simply not true. TN is an anonymous state if you're not a freaking dummy.

This is now the fifth Powerball jackpot winner in the state of Tennessee. The first 3 winners did not even try to be anonymous. The 4th winner did and he/she is sure anonymous!

I spell out what they did because I had already brainstormed the same approach. I laughed so hard as I realized what they did.

They used a trust within a trust.

The first trust simply claims the prize and then distributes the win to the 2nd Trust. To keep your win as private as possible, the lawyer is the trustee or even 3 wealth managers for the first trust, your name is hidden inside the 2nd trust. The lottery does not have your name.

This technique may as well be nicknamed 'Reporters, Go to Hell' I dare you to find any news story that has a trust within a trust winner's identity. These winners may as well not exist and that's how it's done folks.

Most people don't think through the benefits of using advanced legal entities and trust structure strategies. You have to seek out a special lawyer who knows all the ins and outs and is well practiced in this area of law.

Must winners go to the lawyer across the street to them and are uninvolved and aloof to towards using such nuance legal maneuvers to claim a jackpot.

Whether you realize it or not, right now, there are stealth and covert lottery winners in America. The reporters don't know. The friends don’t know. The extended family doesn’t know.

You, too, should claim that way if you can. Don’t let anyone know.

The FL/CA winners are screwed, I give you that.

These winners are to the media what enemy radar is to these aircraft:

Too bad those anonymous winners will not be safe from the REAL threats their family and friends. LOL I always said that the anonymous option in only some states is BS, either make it all or none. Every state should be equal. But as I said the biggest issues are with family and friends not strangers most of the time. Family and friends will bleed many dry in no time. But they need to reveal winners if they want to keep the integrity of the game intact. If people are paying to win they deserve to know the winner. So really I don't care who knows as I said I am not hiding from anyone. Is stick to myself mostly which is how I like it so I won't have any issues. So either way, bring it!
