Ex-girlfriend of slain lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare wins $1 million jackpot

Florida Lottery

LAKELAND, Fla. — Call it the sequel of Abraham Shakespeare.

On Thursday, Antionette Andrews, the former girlfriend of slain lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare, won $1 million on a $20 scratch-off $5 million Monopoly game from a Florida Lottery ticket she bought at a Circle K at 7250 U.S. 98 N in Lakeland.

"I am a little scared," Andrews, 42, said Monday. "It still doesn't seem real."

She's scared about a lot of publicity and because of what happened after Shakespeare won a $17 million lump-sum payment from the Florida Lottery in November 2006.

Dorice "Dee Dee" Moore befriended Shakespeare a couple of years after he won the lottery. By that time, he had given away or lent the majority of his winnings.

Shakespeare was last seen in April 2009 and was reported missing by a family member in November that year. His body was found Jan. 28, 2010, under a concrete slab behind a Plant City home.

Moore, who had bought Shakespeare's Redhawk Bend Drive house, was charged with murder and found guilty in 2012. She is serving a life sentence for the slaying of Shakespeare, who was 43 when he died.

Andrews is the mother of Moses Shakespeare, 16 — Abraham Shakespeare's son. A $1 million trust was set up by Shakespeare for Moses to settle child-support claims. Andrews said Moses will receive the $1 million when he turns 18.

Now, there will be another millionaire in the family.

Or close to it.

Andrews chose to receive a one-time payment of $770,000.

She said she typically spends about $100 each day playing scratch-off games.

Thursday was a light day. She spent only $20 on one ticket.

"I brought it home and started scratching," Andrews said. "I got to the third number and started screaming, hollering and crying."

"Your mama just won a million dollars," she told her 14-year-old daughter.

Andrews called her older son, Raheeme Dumas, 24, about the ticket.

"Make sure it's not $1,000 or $100,000," he said he told her. He believed her only when she sent him a picture of the ticket.

Dumas said his mother has a gambling addiction. But the gambling is far better than her previous drug addiction.

"As long as we have the bills paid, that's what I love to do," Andrews said.

Each day she tells Dumas, "Some day, $20 is going to get me something." She even played the lottery on her return trip to Lakeland from Tallahassee after meeting with Florida Lottery officials about the winning ticket.

Andrews and Dumas said they will likely leave Lakeland in the coming months to start a new life somewhere else. She plans to buy Dumas a new truck and new houses for her and her older daughter.

"That's really all I want," she said.

i'm so very happy for u, and i wish we didn't have to give our name IF we ever win. she is only in her 40s so still YOUNG  enough to ENJOY it. spend it wisely.

I wish we didn't have to give our name, seriously.

I don't like that. I can see last name and state/county,sure. To let others know we won in such county or whatever.

But i am so happy for her. ABRAHAM RIP.Poor guy. I hope DEE DEE the murderer never get out of prison, even though she is still trying to.

EdG1955

So she spends about $35,000 a year on lottery and her after-tax prize will be about $425,000.  That'll fund about 12 years of lottery play if she doesn't buy anything else with the winnings.

Dee Dee Moore must ask either the Governor of Florida or the President of the United Sates for a pardon.

Maybe Abraham Lee Shakespeare is smiling down upon his Ex-Girlfriend. I wish her continued good luck!Lep

She spends $100 a day playing scratch offs???  Where did she get all that money; that's $3,000 a month, typically.  Serious gambling problem (regardless of the result) there...

I do wonder if her wins could support this addiction. 3000$ a month? just on the lottery?

" Where did she get all that money?" Perhaps Mr Shakespeare had sliced off enough to keep her afloat all this time, we may never know." I don't think Dee Dee got to all of his money, perhaps that is one of the reasons he got killed, refusing to tell that evil woman where the rest of his stash was..** that's a total guess on my part.

If you read the story and understood what you'd read you'd know that it doesn't even mention taxes, but says very clearly that she chose the cash option of 770k.

If you had even a basic clue about taxes and lottery prizes you'd know that after mandatory tax withholding somebody who actually wins a million bucks gets a check for $750,000.

Do you pull all your arguments out of thin air? I don't care about the Democratic Party, what's wrong is that an allegedly accomplished/successful lawyer doesn't mind unlawful activities such as treason, collusion, obstruction of justice and embezzlement even in the highest office in the country!

Your continued abuse of grammar and syntax now includes third person singular pronouns when you want to address someone in an exchange directly.

Obama – mocking his name is quite a sophomoric feat – and his administration found a way to offer affordable insurance for citizen through very transparent policies that were negotiated in the open, for more than a year, not haphazardly in break-neck speed and behind closed doors, without approval of the budget office.

You go on loving the US of A, it might not exist in the way you have come to know it for much longer.

Abraham seemed like such a good guy and I think he is her guardian angel and made this happen.

Guardian angels are all around us and we saw this today in Alexandria,  VA.

Artist,

After reading Noise's post I decided to go back and see "who started it"...

Abraham seemed like such a good guy and I think he is her guardian angel and made this happen.

This is a RELIGIOUS reference, everyone, please take your religious discussion elsewhere.

Guardian angels are all around us and we saw this today in Alexandria,  VA.

This is where "the tree of liberty" was being refreshed (according to all the signs I saw at Tea Party rallies).  This is clearly a POLITICAL discussion, everyone, please take your POLITICAL discussions elsewhere.

Happy now, artist?

The owner of this website has NEVER banned references to blessings and other spiritual references in regard to lottery topics. There are hundreds of examples in all forums. Since when do you set the rules for LP? Click report if it is an issue for you. If I feel compelled to thank anyone on any metaphysical level, that is permissable. Get over it.  My thanking God or anyone for lives spared at a public park with a baseball game practice is political? There was no rally, you moron. I live near this park.

Again, report it. Let me know what happens!

How about when someone asks "Cause if you referring to the "other".. Where were they on Sept 11- when good men & women died horribly.GA are folklore imho, but that's me." He asked you a simple question, and stated his humble opinion, no way attacking you.

Being the "good christian" that you are, you showed him you love and compassion and "blessings" saying saying non-answers, calling him a non-Christian (because do not judge others, less ye be judge).  Then you called him a 5 year old! If a 5 year old ask you a question would you not answer it?  Unless you are as uninformed as a 5 year old.  You claim to be a lawyer, do you give your clients these non-answers? Lawyers are trained in logic, shall I go thru and list the logical falisies of the BS you spewed?

Noise gate asked you multiple times to answer a simple question, he prefaced it with statements like "My response was not to offend", yes you show your "blessings" by calling him a 5 year old.  Even after that insult, Noise responded with "With all due respect".  Then you respond by calling noise and others "sad angry atheists".  Well with no due respect, you are the sad individual who can't explain what a guardian angel is.

You claim to be a Christian, yet you do not follow the teaching of Jesus Christ.

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'” - Mark 16:15

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. - 2 Timothy 4-2

Then your next example of "patients and teaching" is calling multiple people you don't even know "unemployed Anti Christian Minority".  So instead of answering a direct question, the coward that you are decides to insult people and continue to insult  strangers and NEVER ANSWER THE ORIGINAL QUESTION! Let me help you, the shooter had a great GA to be able to shoot so many rounds and hit many people including a high ranking Republican while still being fired upon by many others.  The Senator had a crappy GA other wise he would be out of the hospital now! See anybody can follow twisted logic to fit their narrow view while able to feel condescending to others, just like a Republican Jesus (not to be confused with the biblical one).

Yes, I said to take discussions of religion elsewhere, but yet again I end up teaching yet another unemployed fake christian about Jesus Christ.

"Sad!"

No I will not report you for your fake "Blessings", but I can  report you for these things

Thank you Redd. The 3 trolls lost their minds when I dared make a spiritual reference. Their heads rotated 360 degrees! Lol
