A Missouri couple who won a $3.7 million lottery prize in 2007 saw their luck heat up a second time last week, narrowly missing out on another multi-million dollar prize.

Marilyn and Jimmie Lovelace matched four of the five white-ball numbers, plus the Powerball, that were drawn Sept. 4, the Missouri Lottery said in a statement.

The Lovelaces just missed out on a piece of the $80 million jackpot, but still earned a $50,000 prize.

Jimmie said they like to play Powerball and Lotto, using Quick Pick to select their numbers. He purchased their latest winning ticket at Country Mart, 125 W. Karsch, in Farmington, Missouri.

The winning numbers for the Sept. 4 drawing were 4, 8, 30, 52, and 59, with Powerball number 2. The Lovelaces missed out only on the number 8.

One ticket sold in upstate New York won the jackpot, while another ticket sold in Virginia matched all five white-ball numbers for a $1 million prize. Wednesday's Powerball jackpot is estimated at $50 million.

Winning multiple lottery prizes is rare, but not uncommon. In July, a Connecticut man won a second $100,000 prize after winning the same jackpot a year earlier.

Guy in Maine claimed his second prize last week, this time for a million dollars.   Had suggested this story to LP.

Nice to hear of their good fortune!

"earned a $50,000 prize"

4+1 would have been $500,000 if they had paid the extra Power Play dollar.

Maybe they spent almost all of the $3.7 million and/or didn't want to spend the extra buck. MM has the "jackpot only" option making spending an extra buck almost a no-brainer.

MM's Just the Jackpot option is a good deal since you get two games for $3. That is  until you get 5 white balls without the MM # and would have won $1,000,000, but because you chose Just the jackpot.....you get NOTHING!

I'll spend the extra 50 cents and claim my $1 mil prize. Thank you very much.

Congratulations to Marilyn & Jimmie Lovelace from Missouri.

Consider playing MM if it rolls tonight. Party

Yeah they should play MM HARD, it would be way too easy for them to win.
