An Oregon cancer survivor's lucky streak continued this month with a $4.6 million lottery win, according to state officials.

"I am a very lucky guy," winner Stu MacDonald of Bend said in a statement released by the Oregon Lottery on Friday. "I have survived cancer twice and here I am. This is amazing."

MacDonald bought the winning Oregon's Game Megabucks ticket Sept. 7, according to the Oregon Lottery.

The Megabucks winning numbers for Sept. 7, 2019 were 12, 13, 16, 35, 36, and 45. McDondald matched all six numbers for the win.

MacDonald won the jackpot on a quick pick ticket he purchased at Ashley's Café on Northeast 3rd Street in Bend. MacDonald opted to take the bulk sum payment of $2.3 million, and after taxes took home $1.56 million.

"We are thrilled to learn that we sold a Megabucks jackpot," said Tezra Kong, Director of Operations for Ashley's. "We are excited for the team who sold the ticket. A big congratulations to our guests on their windfall. Some of the seller's bonus will go back to the team that strive to delight our guests every day here at Ashley's in Wagner Mall."

For selling the winning ticket Ashley's Café will receive a 1-percent selling bonus of $46,000.

The win came even though MacDonald and his wife, Claudia, didn't go through their usual ritual before he went out to buy the ticket earlier this month.

"Get the winning ticket," she usually told him, according to the state lottery.

He won anyway.

"MacDonald opted to take the bulk sum payment of $2.3 million, and after taxes took home $1.56 million."

The couple should clear around $1.3 million after additional federal taxes . . invested in VWEAX would presently yield around $5,700 monthly dividends before taxes.

Not saying something against anonymity, just saying if it was automatic we would never read these "feel good" stories.

😏so long as the winner has a choice, it'd make no difference to me

Congratulations Stu!

Of course nosy bones retired PICU employee tried to find out what kind of cancer he had X2.   None of my business and couldn't find out---good.  The medical side of me gets curious sometimes and he didn't volunteer this PHI!  Regardless, stay healthy Stu.

I love to read about people like this winning!

I know of a lady here where I live who has cancer and has been given up on several

times telling her she only has so much time to live...the last time not long ago

was 2 months and it's been at least 6 months this time...this has happened over and over

with her...God can and does work miracles every day and she is one of them & I have hope

she will completely overcome this!

She just lost her husband a month ago...he had health problems too & died in his sleep peacefully.

She had been helping him and here she was in her condition....I pray for her every single day!

Her insurance co. won't pay for her meds any longer but the Doctor got in touch with the manufacturer

of it and they are helping her keep taking it...thank the Good Lord for that!

If all the lotteries give all the winners anonymity, no state lottery would file stories. If a winner wants to contact the press with their "lottery story" it's their prerogative

"Choice or no choice" makes not difference to me either or probably any winner wanting anonymity.
