Preview of new website available for use starting today

Complete makeover includes many new features and equal usability on phones, computers

By Kate Northrop

MARTINSVILLE, N.J. — Lottery Post Founder Todd Northrop today announced a complete rebuild of the popular lottery website, improving the experience for lottery players on all devices and creating a solid foundation for future growth.

After two years of design and development, the new Lottery Post website is available starting today as a special preview.

The new website brings the same experience and features to every device, including phones, tablets, and computers, which is particularly important given that more than 80 percent of traffic to Lottery Post comes from mobile devices.

In a video presentation, Northrop describes the history of Lottery Post, explains the importance of the new website, and demonstrates several groundbreaking new features.

WATCH: The Next Chapter of Lottery Post

"It has taken working every day for the past year and a half of intense programming effort to get from that first prototype design to the finished website that I'm unveiling today," Northrop said.  "Everything you've come to know and love about Lottery Post has been carried over into the new website, with the benefit that now people using a phone are using exactly the same website that people on a computer are using.  All the forums, lottery results, systems, private messaging, blogs — everything can be used on any device."

Given the long tradition of Lottery Post as staple in the lottery industry, one critical aspect of the new design was that it be instantly familiar to the many loyal members and visitors who have visited daily for years.

"Someone coming to the new Lottery Post website should instantly recognize it as Lottery Post and should be able to navigate through it just as easily as they can today," Northrop explained.  "I did not set out to chase current design trends; I set out to take what people love and make it better and cleaner."

The new website is ready for anyone to try out right now.  Because it is a preview, and not considered the "main" Lottery Post website yet, visitors are cautioned that the website may briefly go offline from time to time as updates are made.

To try out the new Lottery Post website, go to the address preview.lotterypost.com in your web browser.  People trying the new website are encouraged to use it on their phone, computer, and tablet.

Importantly, Lottery Post is seeking feedback from anyone using the new website to understand what they like and don't like.  A convenient Send us feedback link appears right at the top of the left-side menu to make sending feedback as quick and easy as possible.

Future videos are planned to go into more depth about individual features of the new website.

Watch the full video presentation for the full scoop on what's behind the new Lottery Post website, and be sure to leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments below or under the video on our YouTube channel.

Hey Todd, many years ago there was a cigarette commercial that said," you've come a long way baby to get where you get to today."  Congratulations! Job well done! Looking forward to the new site :-)

On the current website you have the option to Change the STYLE and FONT in the Newsprint.  The overall current website is EASIER to READ b/c of larger FONT SIZE across the entire website.

The FONT SIZE in the New Website is TOO SMALL.  How do you increase the FONT SIZE from Small to MEDIUM across the ENTIRE NEW WEBSITE ?

All I want to know is where is the option to BLOCK ADS as a Platinum member, I don't want to see another ad.  Used to be an option to disable them, even though it never works. I also see the ad space is even bigger on the new site (at least in Safari.

Looks the same to me menu wise, just not boxy anymore (does look cleaner).  Asked for an option (many years ago) for saving settings (Sums, pairs, keys, etc) in D3 and nada came of it.

So what are the new options or systems other than D5 and I5?

please stop allowing advertisers to sell sexual toys, male enhancement or any demonstration using pic of sexual parts of the body. That is definitely not good business.

Watch the video, 21:10 minute mark, Todd explains it. The ads are gone only on the new version of LP.

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts and feedback about the new website, whether it is a compliment, criticism, suggestion, or anything else.  Please continue trying out the new website and sharing your feedback as it comes to you, as often as you like.  It is incredibly helpful!

Yesterday was a big day, and getting to the point of being able to launch the new preview website was a huge milestone during this amazing and difficult two-year journey.

There are so many little (and big) changes that I wanted to discuss in the video, but there really was time for only a few.  I'm going to try and create some additional shorter videos soon to highlight various specific areas of the website and walk through the changes from the old one.  I think it can help to see the new changes in a video, as opposed to just reading about them.

Because every single page you're seeing is completely rebuilt from the ground-up, it gave me an opportunity to make thousands of little tweaks and improvements.  There is so much to talk about, and now that the preview is launched I'm finally able to talk about it all!

The preview website is not "just for show" — you can use it for real as your primary was to use Lottery Post.  In fact, I have personally been using the new Lottery Post website about 90% of the time for the past 8 months or so, even as it has been under construction.  For example, when I posted this reply back in December 2021, you can see my reply includes an emoji from the new website.  The one thing that is a little annoying is that you can occasionally be directed back to the old website by clicking a "www" link, but other than that you can basically spend all or most of your time on the new site.

If you find yourself thrown back to the old website, you can just edit the URL in the address bar on your web browser and change the "www" to "preview" (and then press Enter) and you will be right back on the new site, in the same place you were expecting to be.

If there is interest I can also do a video that discusses some of the new technology being used to make everything work, which as a technical person myself, I enjoy talking about.

One thing I neglected to mention in the video is web browser support.  Although Internet Explorer is now (as of June 15, 2022) officially retired by Microsoft, I did still go to great lengths to be sure that IE 11 would work and be compatible with the new website.  Because many people are still using old computers with old web browsers, I did not want to leave them out in the cold, so to speak.

It is only IE 11 support — no versions less than that are supported — but it is a signal that every member and visitor is important to us.  At some point, probably in a couple of years, we will eliminate IE 11 support in order to remove all the extra code in place that is necessary in order to support it, but until then most pages will work fine in Internet Explorer.  (There are still some pages, like the Post Predictions page, that are not working properly in IE 11, but those will be fixed.)

There are very few things that did not carry over into the new website, but they are things that not used much (or at all) any more.  Obvious removals are things like profile options for AOL, Yahoo, and MSN usernames, because literally nobody uses them anymore.  Slightly less obvious is the removal of "All Results on One Page", as I realized that it was exactly the same thing as the Custom Lottery Results page with all games displayed.  There's no reason to implement a redundant page, so now just the Custom Lottery Results page remains out of the two.

On mobile devices, one thing you'll notice is that the main menu options at the top do not use drop-down menus like they do when you're using a computer.  That is purposeful.  Trying to use drop-down menus on a phone can be a fairly horrific experience.  Instead, you just tap the menu option and the page you see includes every option that you would have seen in the drop-down menu on a computer.  So you still have access to every single thing that you can get to on a computer, but you just access it in a way that is more suitable to a phone.

Like I mentioned, there is so much to discuss, and I'm looking forward to sharing more details soon!  In the meantime, I look forward to reading more of your feedback and answering questions.

Thanks I've been waiting for an updated version

Hi Todd

Some things to ponder...

We need a few improvements for P3 and P4 games:

P3: in Inspector, a tool to show the frequency/count of positional pairs, e.g., front, back and split.

P4: in Inspector, a tool to show the frequency/count of positional pairs and triads. e.g., front, middle, back and split permutations.

Also, it would be good to have an insight tool outside of the existing Combinations Analysis tool and Pairs Analysis tool for Pick 3 and Pick 4 for a game or set of games.

In the age of increasing computational power, AI and ML I would suggest this would not be extremely hard to implement. One should be able to screen or evaluate a game against a set of checks and have a "Game Report", if you will. For Example:

For Florida Pick 3 Midday:

  1. The straight drawn Back Pair 81 has been missing for 8.45 times the expected frequency.
  2.  The straight drawn Front Pair 90 has been missing for 6.99 times the expected frequency.
  3.  As a group, the straight drawn numbers "291, 297, 301, 307, 361, 367, 381, 387, 391, 394, 397, 501, 507, 561, 567, 581, 587, 591, 594, 597" have been missing for 11.82 times their expected frequency.
  4. As a group, the boxed drawn numbers with sums 6, 7 and 12 have been missing for 4.57 times their expected frequency. Those numbers are 006, 007, 015, 016, 024, 025, 029, 033, 034, 038, 047, 056, 114, 115, 119, 123, 124, 128, 133, 137, 146, 155, 222, 223, 227, 236, 245, 335, 344.
  5.  The straight drawn Split Pair 83 has been missing for 4.59 times the expected frequency. Those numbers are 803, 813, 823, 833, 843, 853, 863, 873, 883, 893.
  6. As a group, these straight drawn Prime Numbers have been missing for 1.43 times the expected frequency: 743,401,859,839,331,677,761,229,313,599,569,947,239,571,827,887,137,829,191.

You get the gist.

Finally, I think you should consider creating a Diamond Level membership and allow Diamond Members to load their own custom Pick 3 and Pick 4 games that have access to all the site tools.

Just something to consider.

Thanks

To copy paste, so much more "easier."

and yes, I do agree, Destiny on that, is an issue, so I hope we can make bigger/larger fonts at times, yes.Yes Nod

Not too small.  Having an option as to some things encompassing FONT is perfect. I hope we will have an option.

Hi Todd

Thank you so much for the great updates.

Another option to add is to be able to export the drawings list to desktop in Excel or Notepad format.

Thank you,

lottologix

I can see it now in the year 3000 there will be a sorta Maxx Headroom version of Todd since computer ai will take over and con everyone into some sort of impression of themselves on a server some where :)

Todd- Congrats on the new site.

In addition to getting rid of ads COMPLETELY (not an option) for paid members, an option for "optional" cookies that are used for advertising.  NUMEROUS websites now days give you an option to not be tracked and I think this should also be an option here, especially for paid members. Many people do not even realize they are being tracked by cookies across multiple sites everyday. You should  have some sense of privacy , especially when when you pay to use the site.
