One of the most hotly-anticipated lottery drawings of all time never happened Monday night, as lottery officials were scrambling to process the massive amount of ticket sales data generated by the record $1.9 billion jackpot.
Officials now estimate that the drawing should kick off sometime Tuesday morning. A specific time has not been set.
The delay was initially caused by one participating lottery that needed extra time to complete required security protocols, the California Lottery said.
Later, the Multi-State Lottery Association released a statement explaining that one participating lottery needed more time to process its sales and play data.
The organization explained that all 48 participating lotteries are required to submit their sales and plays before the winning numbers can be selected.
"Powerball has stringent security requirements to protect the integrity of the game and remains committed to holding a drawing that gives all players a fair chance to win," the statement said.
"Due to the length of the draw delay, it is likely that we will not know the official results of the Powerball drawing until Tuesday morning," it continued.
People across the United States have been scooping up lottery tickets at a frantic pace ever since nobody won Saturday night's $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot.
There have now been 40 drawings since Aug. 6 without a top prize winner, generating a jackpot larger than any other seen in world history.
If nobody wins the current $1.9 billion Powerball jackpot, the next jackpot will be $2.3 billion, according to the Texas Lottery.
Players will be able to find the winning numbers at both USA Mega, as well as on Lottery Post, on the players' state lottery results page.
The winning numbers will be published immediately after the delayed drawing takes place.
THE LOTTERY IS ALWAYS RIGGED ( They Select The Winning Combination) WHETHER THEY USE A Lottery Draw Machine OR COMPUTERIZED LOTTERY DRAWINGS.
The Lottery Needed More Time To Pick The Winning Combination.
victims of thar respective greed ..... well good luck and shame on them
Read the article again.
For some unknown reason the suspect state has not been mentioned...could be one of the territory's (PR & VI) but think not.
Sweet, now I can buy more tickets lol
Where are the Powerball numbers, it's Tuesday morning????
Not drawn yet. After this election stuff, GMA will have a story on it.
Hold onto your tickets!
This sounds sus.
Valid point. Got a knot in my stomach at the possible shenanigans being perpetrated by the unnamed lottery participant/state/territory . Wonder how many "test" drawings they will perform?
But isn't there usually a slight adjustment to the final jp total when it is unusually large? After the numbers are drawn.
I bet it is a very large state that delayed the drawing..
I give up
a state cldn't stand losing
NY, or NJ
what if nobody won?
Lol, and they say is not rigged . They are working on which combinations to drop. Do you think they will hand a billion dollars to some peasant, I don't think so.
powerball seems to pull this stunt about delaying drawings
Sounds to me like California is the state that may have had technical problems and could not process security protocols.
As a retired data processing professional (I worked for IBM for 32 years in an IT department located inside of one of IBM's largest datacenters containing every type/kind of computer hardware that had software executing on them from PC's to mainframes) I'm NOT surprised that a computer could be overwhelmed and crash due the volume of data to be processed. Add to that that we neither know the age of nor the stability of both the hardware and software running on any machine that may have failed. Nothing says that the computers any states lottery has in running their datacenter is state of the art. It's very common for up and running hardware/software to be old and way out of date and long overdue for replacement. Should they replace it? Of course they should! But then the dollars budgeted to do that may not even exist.
Add to that, if it actually is California that has the problem, California is the most populated state in The United States and sells more lottery tickets than any other state in a "normal" drawing. G5
What time is the drawing?
I guess the realized they drew my numbers -- and said OOPS--no way! Good luck to all!
so can you buy more tickets for todays drawing or will the ticket be for wednesday night lol.
The winner lives in a poor rural area, votes democratic so the powers that be doesn't them to have their winnings....ergo mulligan
Well Cali said "it wasn't them"
d-NYers n Floridians
we'll get it next time y'all
They should have stayed up all night to fix it if necessary. Looks like they went back to bed and will start on it after they've had their coffee this morning. It's 8 am on the east coast, and still no draw.
Smells like the 2020 election to me.
Caps
I demand a full investigation, hand counts, paper analysis etc,etc......
LOL
caps
It's wednesdays. I already checked This whole debacle is suspicious as hell
Did u notice there was no adjustment? I think that's odd. Very easily should have gone over 2bn by Monday morn
I must have had the winning combination, that's why they pulled this oakie doke on us.!!
I thought it suspicious that the winners were in contested 2020 states and now I'm wondering about this one. Wondering if they're holding off until election results come in. Would make a good book - payoffs through lottery to states that help rig elections. Kind of crazy but now I'm kind of wondering about it
Screw this! Whichever state it is should be kicked out of the Powerball permanently!
https://youtu.be/yVDP5M0eTcM
There really were no numbers last night?
I hope it's Idaho. They deserved to be kicked out for requiring the powerplay purchase on every ticket.
2 billion dollars. It's ridiculous. I wish they would rig it. Get it over with.
Power Ball & Mega Game is a sucker game, HQ for power is California, all of the states money go there,
what does the count have to do with the powerball machine dropping the balls?
If their state lottery can't afford acceptable equipment then whichever state it is has no business running a lottery. I hope the state lottery commissioner that is responsible for this fiasco is fired post haste!!!!!
Can the MUSL void the guilty states entries and hold the drawing for the rest of the states who did nothing wrong? Let whichever states players sue their state lottery commission for any money they would have won from any voided tickets!!!!
Where are the PB rules on this one?
Well if no winner, they better be prepared for tomorrow
but doubt if there will be a rollover
everybody back to work
who quitting as soon as they announce the number?
I don't think Powerball is "rigged", I highly suspect someone is trying to cheat by manipulating the protocol. Most likely in Virgin Islands or some other small municipality.
Powerball prevented the fraud and kept the integrity of yesterday's drawing by delaying it until today.
Exactly! I was keeping an eye to see if and when the jackpot would get a bump but never materialized, this entire scenario stinks to high heaven😠
I guess when all this is over .. I'm going to need a cigarette 🚬
Could very well be. Puerto Rico is about as corrupt as they come. I had thought perhaps it was California causing the delay but others who chimed in said the CA lottery officials denied it was them.
It will take at least a month for the funds to be collected from every state/territory so the winner better make arrangements on getting a temporary loan to tie them over until the funds get wired if they decide to quit immediately and leave town.
www.kcra.com out of Sacramento has the best story on why the delay occured. It's lottery policy to not name the guilty party that caused the delay.
I highly suspect U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or Puerto Rico is the guilty party. We shall see which Banana Republic is at fault!
I bet the drawing won't happen until 12 noon EST
Have to agree with you on that.
The reality is that many organizations (both public and private) have outdated/antiquated data processing equipment inside their datacenter walls. That's very common.
And with governmental agencies that have and run "old iron" there's no way the public can ever know they do it. First of all, the public can't even see the hardware, and even if they could, there's know way of telling how old that "box" is, or the state of the software running on it.
Think of jet airliners. You see that Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 taxing in, but just how old is it, and how many miles has it flown? You assume it's new, but the fact of the matter is that it could be 15 years old. There's no way of knowing. Same thing with computers. The people that support the computer and are employed by the company know how old it is and what, if any, problems it may be experiencing but nobody else does. G5
Well atleast now I am assured that I didn't lose 😂
Now would be a great time to slip in and win the Mega Millions, very little attention
$2.04B and $997M cash option are final numbers!
The numbers are out! Check your tix!
https://www.usamega.com/
????????????
I got 3 Powerball numbers correct for a total of $12.
No single numbers means the odds of it getting hit were greatly reduced!
I predict a rollover to Wednesday and Jackpot of $2.3B, which will climb to $2.4B when final tally is done.
Texas lottery web sight 10-07 powerball numbers are 10 33 41 47 56 10
Holy Crap - I got it
10-33-41-47-56-10
It says the prize results are not available so we will have to find out if someone won
Really
I had the 10(10)
After all that tabulation, we should know in 10mins geesh
That's what I got too. Unfortunately, it pays the same as just 10.
Thanks Todd.
Hit the PB on two tickets and only had one white ball😕
That's why they call you "TheUnluckyOne"! Ha
Try again tomorrow!
Only one birthday number in the white balls again... if this rolls, think of all the poor gas station and grocery clerks.
Yep, "unluckyone" would be me, only playing again if jackpot wasn't won
Nothing here or Indiana ticket.
KY had four $50K winners but now that part of their website went down. Wanted to see how PP winners there were.
"$2.04B and $997M cash option are final numbers! "
If those numbers are accurate the cash increased by $215 million and that means they sold roughly 330 million tickets. That would be the most for the entire run despite being for a Monday drawing. It also means they sold about 2/3 of the combinations, with the chance of single winner at 36.5%, two winners at 20.6%, and 3 winners at 7.8%.
It also means they sold roughly half as many tickets a they did for the (now legitimately) previous record in January 2016. In turn that makes it seem somewhat odd that the number of tickets sold would cause a problem, even using the same hardware they had almost 7 years ago. Maybe somebody made a poor choice when upgrading to new hardware, or maybe one of the smaller jurisdictions sold another 150k tickets and beat their previous record by 50%.
Or maybe, and I know this is crazy, it's human error that's not directly related to the hardware capability. I'm not an expert on the equipment they're using or he specific protocols, but I suspect the same sort of problems that could cause one of the MUSL members to take about a day and a half (IIRC) to figure out if they sold a winner could cause a long delay in finalizing the sales records.
"only playing again if jackpot wasn't won "
Same here, and I expect we'll know fairly soon. If it does roll, I wonder if the delay in the announcement will reduce sales for Wednesday, or just result in higher hourly sales?
Sounds like they need a loaded Z16
The secretary of Treasury here in PR said they were on time. Must be one of the most populated states.
How was it the drawing was supposedly delayed but the video says they drew last night? Listen to the lady doing the drawing.
https://youtu.be/6YVRlVFwKuA
as recent as this morning they said the drawing would be delayed until Tuesday morning once all states submitted their lotto data. Kind of suspect.
Reduce sales bcuz of trust
DC lottery advise on their website "it wasn't them as the culprit"
😀
The drawing was held but all sites weren't finished tabulating I guess
Not Puerto Rico. They went on the news saying they did everything on time. Plus the machines stopped selling tickets at 9pm and the powerball is at 11: 59 pm.
According to this Twitter post, no one won and it's now at 2.3 billion
https://mobile.twitter.com/ARodTV/status/1590001920542113792?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
legit?
The key here is the number 19. A little bit of history tidbit. well one lottery is red and the other ones blue. That's a first indication.
I looked up some words, I will find out exactly what really happened.
the $1.20 billion , that number comes from the you know who. like how 911 was 102 minutes. every selected official goes in office on 1-20. Not going to get into the whole political thing but I think everyone understands. As soon as I seen the woman mention I said you gotta to be kidding me.
I do hope several people on this site do win something. I hope many of you do win 3+1 on Powerball.
so sad. the 24-42 . When I seen what was drawn I was like <snip>
can't stand twitter I knew it.
look who runs everything. think about it.
I haven't seen that anywhere else. I'll wait for the official word from MUSL.
What is this double play?
If that's true that nobody won. Well, the Wednesday night is going to be 2.5bln.
Since they already reached over 2bln, that it must be higher then Taxes estimates as 2.3bln.
So my prediction is 2.5 that is of course if people has any trust in PB in general after today's story.
What happened?
I found out that I am still poor.
Delaware Lottery is closed today
was it them?
😂 😂😂😂
I won it...and they know it, you know and I know it. They put up the wrong numbers though for some reason
Delay drawing "ok" .But explain why they choose to show a $2 million dollar winner from 2019 Lisa Hays an Illinois teacher who won in Iowa from 2/19/2019 during the drawing
no winner in Florida. Cali didnt release yet
U funny 😄
Won't believe until I see it on their website
That would be something. Two of my tickets hit the Powerball with Powerplay so I'll be picking up some today even if it hasn't been announced if it rolled again.
Winning Numbers - Nov 07, 2022
WB=10-33-41-47-56 PB=10
'They' don't choose any winners. Maybe she's like me and plays in other states. Back up your statement, please.
The $64,000 question was rigged and you see what happened when the government found out.
Well....back to work we go!
agree. Totally.
In participating states (everyone but California, I think), you can pay an extra $2 to be entered in a second drawing with better odds and a top prize of $10mil. This is separate from the power play add on.
QQ expert: what are they doing now? What office is the culprit, initials please?
possible rollover? If so, I trust, if not, moving to MM
Missouri and Kansas slow pick3 draws evening makes me wounder about other states having same problem.
$2.3B for Wed, 11/9!
Just googled "Powerball Jackpot" and a website called Marca said no winners and tomorrow's JP is $2.3B!
The PARTY is still rocking! I'm glad nobody won, if they had, everybody would have said it's from cheating!
I watched the video several times and you are absolutely correct that she mentioned have a good "night" .
The numbers were already drawn last night so why did PB say there would be a delay in drawing the numbers?
I wish there was an audience with a live timestamp as we have no idea if this may have been recorded that evening or several days earlier.
afp is also reporting that.
Powerball jackpot grows to record $2.3 bn in US
https://news.yahoo.com/powerball-jackpot-grows-record-2-161326295.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall
Too late for me to edit my post and I apologize.
Saw what you were talking about just watching the drawing and you were 100% correct.
Good point, out of all the winners nationwide how did she get on the screen?
Forbes says nobody won! It's now at $2.3 billion!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/roberthart/2022/11/08/record-powerball-jackpot-jumps-to-23-billion-after-no-ticket-wins-mondays-draw-heres-how-much-tax-a-winner-would-pay/amp/
$2.3 BILLION!
$1.125B CASH OPTION!
This is getting freaky!
powerball now at under $3 bill - Search (bing.com)
Strange. It will get to $3 billion.
WED draw to $2.4B, then Saturday draw to $3.0B. It's possible!
even MORE of a waste of money... not all places do it, or the clerks don't have a clue to play it.. or the machines don't have the software update to play it for yet another dollar... don't worry about it. remember the PB only forks over a lousy $100. for FOUR numbers, Mega millions gives you $500.
If it's not in their website I won't believe it
Yes, but on the FOUR + ONE, megamillions only gives you 10K whereas PB gives you 50K.
Sorry people, you believed a lie. The jackpot was won.
One winner from California.
Trust USA Mega and forget the other garbage out there.
Thanks Todd!
Congrats to all those who won.
A winning ticket probably accidentally hit and they weren't ready I bet .. it should be illegal to postpone a bet smh try harder not to make the lottery look like a scam run by a mafia pls and thank u
Either she was reading off the teleprompter with a script that hadn't been updated, or the Lottery drew before all the ticket play data was in. The latter would allow the possibility of someone (an insider) to create a winning ticket record after the draw.
Always always
I just bought tickets and they have no jackpot amount on them. The store couldn't cash my winners because of that. They would take my money but not give me any!
Hope they get this straight soon.
Just had the same issue in Mass.
California Lottery is the one who announced there would be a delay in drawing the numbers and then surprise, the winner is from California. Don't question any of this though, or the media and other forum members will call you names.
"The secretary of Treasury here in PR said they were on time. "
Well, if somebody said it's not their fault then it must be true.
Altadena, CA is where the ticket was sold. Three other lucky souls in CA got over $1.1 million each.
Joe's Service Center will be plastered all over the place.
We now know that a good friend of the possible insider cheat lives in Altadena, CA.
What is the winner take home in Cali? The website shows 20 million now.
Definitely Rigged these Last 2 Billion Dollar Powerball/Mega Jackpots...Online Web has My $ in between Right Now...Waiting to See How they Are Going to Explain it...
Here we go again another California winner. Congratulations stay as anonymous as you can
They might get 100 million after them California taxes hit them .👀👀😂😂😂😂😂
California has no state tax on lottery
California requires the winner's name to be made public. I am assuming this person will abstain from the media as much as possible.
California is the most populated state in the nation. It will be very interesting to see how the life of that person will be affected after this record win.
Whoever it is, I wish them well. Whether it's one person or a pool, their lives have changed forever.
I understand what you mean, but if they stopped selling tickets at 9:00 pm and the powerball is a 11:59 pm... I guess they have plenty time to do whatever they needed to do on time.
No doubt about it,I second that
i have been saying this for some time. We are not getting a live draw. Instead we get a video that has been edited . Watch the last video before this one . The whole background disappears and the announcer seems to not even notice. My guess is they are pulling videos from a draw previously done.
News report says it was the Minnesota lottery that caused the delay
https://www.11alive.com/article/news/local/minnesota-lottery-sales-verification-system-caused-powerball-drawing-delay/89-ee3e9c77-eea2-4813-96e8-02008308de18
Floyd there were actually just a shade under 276 million tickets sold. Just about the same as Saturdays drawing just a small bit less. What i want to understand is when you state roughly 330 million tickets sold and that means they sold about 2/3 of the combinations were sold how do you come up with 2/3 of the combinations were sold? There are something like 292 million combinations for Powerball. I know that there are duplicate tickets sold but where do you come up with the figure 2/3 of the combinations were sold?
The increase I was using was based on a figure that's been updated, and it looks like Saturday's finished at about 800, so the actual increase was closer to 177ish, which matches fairly well with sales of about 276 million tickets.
The percentage of combinations used by a given number of randomly selected tickets, and the percentage of duplicates is a standard statistical calculation. You can read as much as you want, but the first few lines cover the basic concept: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisson_distribution The numbers aren't 100.0% accurate, because probabilities aren't certainties, but when the sample size is large enough they're very close. Based on 276 million tickets 61.11% of the combinations (178,564 268.2068) would have been in play if all tickets were chosen randomly. The actual number of combination obviously has to be a whole number, but just 0.01% is 17856.42682068 combinations, so 61.11% covers a range from 178,546,411 to 178,582,125.
Here's the breakdown for 276 million tickets:
Here's another article with a little more information, including a reference to similar issues in the past. This delay was only unique in lasting longer than previous delays, but maybe the winner should claim their cash quickly so they can get in on the investment before the cost of tin foil hats peaks.
https://www.11alive.com/article/news/nation-world/powerball-winning-numbers-nov-7-2022/507-8b309017-07fc-4d81-8766-67e598432331
Looks like it might be a green screen. But yes, if we're told the drawing is delayed, but really it wasn't and the results were just kept from being released then that's a integrity issue.
I think the enormous demand for Monday's drawing just overloaded the computer system, and it took more time than normal to verify everything with their security protocol in place. People weren't just buying a few quick picks, they were buying 100's, and maybe 1,000's of them at a single transaction. That overloaded the system.
I have always felt that a ATM is dangerous for compulsive gamblers. In the stores, there's lines at the ATM, and at the counter to buy the tickets.
Thanks for the link. Technical issues have happened before, we just didn't notice them because not as many people were watching the drawings as this time.
I remember years ago Louisiana Lotto had an issue during the on air draw. When they started mixing the balls, there were already some in the tube, like they had already done the draw. It turns out they were testing the machine and the camera before the actual draw and forgot to put the balls back in, so the drawing was delayed by around 30 minutes. These things are nothing new.
With the way tickets were being sold, I'm surprised more lottery computer systems didn't go down. When I'd pass convenience stores, the parking lots were full and there were long lines inside. The store downtown near work had a lot of people printing large number of tickets for office pools.
It was a wild ride, but now back to normal.
we should all get free powerball tickets next draw! that BS right all fixed rigged one winner all that money!
Maybe instead of griping here, you should contact MUSL and insist they give everyone who played PB on the 7th get a free ticket.
You probably haven't thought through how that would be accomplished, what with verifying who actually played and who is lying about playing, and how a retailer would go about printing free tickets.
For ex: when a player wins a free ticket from a ticket they purchased, the free ticket will indicate that.
Anyway, good luck with that.
someone got a probelm with what I said!
