Lucky streak: second major win in just over a year

By Kate Northrop

As if winning part of a $733,968 jackpot in the Fantasy 5 draw game wasn't cool enough, one Michigan man won the $1 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery's Millionaire Raffle just over a year later.

Luck hasn't stopped flowing for one Michigan lottery player, who has now won the highest-tier prizes in two of the games Michigan Lottery has to offer.

The 47-year-old Michigan resident opted to remain anonymous when he claimed his second big prize: the only available $1 million top prize in the Millionaire Raffle.

Just a little over a year ago in February 2025, he claimed half a $733,968 Fantasy 5 jackpot that he split with one other winner, taking home a $366,984 cut before taxes.

When the Michigan Lottery launched the Millionaire Raffle, he knew he had to buy a ticket for the game online. By March 26, all 100,000 available tickets had sold out, prompting the Lottery to conduct the drawing not long after. The Muskegon County resident was none the wiser about a second big win until he got word from the Lottery.

"I really liked the odds of the Millionaire Raffle game, so I bought several tickets," the winner explained to the Lottery. "I won a $366,984 Fantasy 5 jackpot prize just over a year ago, so when I logged into my Lottery account and saw a notification that I'd won the $1 million Millionaire Raffle prize, I was in total disbelief that I'd won big again!"

He visited Lottery headquarters in Lansing earlier this month to claim the luckiest prize in the raffle, which he plans on investing.

"I honestly thought it was some sort of technical error where an incorrect prize notification was sent, so I decided to check back in the morning," he continued. "I logged in the next day, and to my surprise, the $1 million prize was still pending in my account. I'm still trying to process that I'm here again claiming another huge prize!"

In total, the Millionaire Raffle awarded one $1 million top prize and 100 $1,000 prizes. All winning raffle numbers are available on Lottery Post's Michigan Lottery Results page.

Some people are just lucky

It has nothing to do with luck.

I think if you were to ask the two time winner they would undoubtedly admit that they regularly dine on liverwurst or oliveloaf sandwiches with ......

Just thinking out loud here folks.

Have a shaggy day!

I figure he bought more than a few tickets.

I get free returnable cans from my neighbor and spend it on the lottery and nothing. I need his luck.

Michigan is rigged. Most of the big winners come from the same side of the state, near the Detroit area. Since it happens so frequently, I renamed the lottery to Wayne County Lottery. The population size is always cited as to why the majority of winners come from there. Yeah, okay!

I stand to be corrected, but this sure does feel and sound like a Lottery Post member 🤔

Nway, whoever you are, congratulations 🎉 on the win.

What else would it be? More population = more lottery tickets purchased.

As far as a lot of tickets are concerned New York, and the 5 boroughs generate a lot of sales but you don't get a lot of jackpot winners here.

That $733,968 Fantasy 5 jackpot was split, meaning this guy pocketed around $366k from a prize that started at $100k and rolled over. Pretty impressive timing just before nailing the 1-in-100,000 shot at the Millionaire Raffle's $1M top prize. Stories like this show that consistent play across games can pay off big, even if the odds are the same for everyone. Congrats to him on turning tickets into treasure twice over!
