The Implications of Cracking the Code..
Well you can cross the Salvation Army off your list. They won't accept money won from playing the lottery. The Salvation Army counsels people with addictions, one of them being gambling and, yes, some people spend their paychecks hoping for a lottery win. So they feel that it would be hypocritical to accept a donation. Here's an example of a man who sent them $100,000 and his check was returned. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20030102/ai_n9615603 Regarding good people wi

CORPORATE Lottery
I guess I don't get the original poll question - didn't seem to be an option there for I think its OK - all the options seemed the be variations of no - don't let the foreigners do it . That kind of compromises the poll, IMO. Full disclosure - I actually did consulting fork for Goldman (indirectly) in assessing valuation of GTECH for the buyout. My first question is - what is the premise here? That only US controlled companies should be able to provide lottery systems in the U

Have you ever met a lottery winner (at least $1 million)?
I stood in line a couple of times with guy who won a scratch-off game for a million dollars, if I hadn't seen his picture in the paper I wouldn't have believed it because he was buying tickets and hoping to win like every body else in the line. Before I retired one of my former co-workers who was retired won one of those set for life games that payed a $1000 a week for life. He started a distilled water delivery business and had a contract with our company and he always stopped and told wi

Help organizing a work pool and forming a contract
This method offers no possibility for disputes. There is always a possibility that there will be a dispute. The only question is how easy it will be to resolve a dispute when it comes up. An email for each drawing listing the people you believe are in the group is a good way to prove that the people listed are in the group, but why would you need to prove that somebody is in the group? The problem is that the email may not be very helpful when somebody who played last week claims that

Man Raffles Off His Soul
I wish I knew how to post a news article. Since there has been so much discussion about the FL raffle, I thought I'd post this: A Florida man determined to turn his life around has put his soul up for sale on his website, saying the return on investment could beat the most-generous Vegas slot machine. Gerald Fraller, 28, of Tampa, Fla., who has created the Win My Soul website to raffle off his soul, likened the deal to a business contract. In the corporate world, people invest in com

Lottery Clubs
The book is good, but old. The forms and contract between members should be useful to you. The main thing that has changed is states now view selling a lottery ticket for more then you paid for it to be ticket scalping which is generally a crime. Ever dollar you take in needs to go for lottery tickets and if you are in the club you have to pay for your tickets too. You can not make a profit off your players, it is risky to ask them to cover expenses as that can be considered adding to the p

Is anyone else having this problem?
Mike: Me and the Mirage, the Bellagio and Elvis got a thing going. Everyone I sign up from this thread gets to spend a little time in an alley out back answering a few questions about why they been admiring bellyache's new icon. Then, if enough people end up giving the right answer Rocco's gonna come see me, bring me my cut of the action and a ticket to the Jimmy Hoffa Concrete Shoeshop. I surely am looking forward to that. Used to be a teamster for a while and old Jimmy was dear to m

After the Win: Who do you consult?
Quote: Originally posted by Dream on April 4, 2006 Talk to your relatives and friends. They sure will help you manage your finances. Just kidding. You should consult a financial firm like Merrill Lynch or other big firms. They will be able to help you with everything you need, setting up trust, minimize tax liability, invest and so on. Merrill Lynch? Google Merrill Lynch and key words like fraud and lawsuit! How about Paine Webber? I'm sure you'll come up with a few links! You don't have

In the event you hit the jackpot ...
Quote: Originally posted by Chewie on March 1, 2006 Three people voted no? Please explain the logic to this. What could possibly make you think you would be rationale enough to make logical decisions? How on earth could you imagine yourself calm enough to read the fine print! Although I said above that I'd hire an attorney, I'm not totally sure of the necessity of doing so (nor of checking with an accountant) befor
