This is one of my pet peeves. How did this idea ever come about that annunities are bad. I know in the short time I have been here this subject has really been discussed in great detail. This is what I know speaking for Florida only!! The Lottery Commission in Florida wants desperately to buy back annunities from folks that have choses to go that way. My state, Louisiana, allows the use of trusts and LLCs to claim prizes, and many winners have done that, sending an attorney or other such representative to collect the prize. Anonymity isn't a yes/no thing. It's more about how anonymous you want to be, i.e. how hard you want to make it to be found. would people be willing to spend their lottery money on anything other than tickets if they knew there is absolutely no way for them to increase their chances of winning a jackpot, other than to buy more tickets? This is my first post here and I joined just to get comments on my supposition. So here goes. In my state, there is a 7% state tax on lottery winnings. If I won the top prize tonight and chose the annuity, could I not pay the 7% on the 1st year's annuity payment AND THEN move to Wyoming or Nevada or Florida where there is NO state income tax and receive the rest of the annuity payments free of state tax for the next 25 years?
