Two Illinois lottery winners in a partnership claim $1.34 billion Mega Millions jackpot
You can say that again. Uncle Sam is even an UNINVITED PARTNER. Lottery winnings should never be taxed. We work and we pay taxes. We play with already taxed income, we win and we shouldn't be taxed because if we lose, they don't refund us our money.

Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
Estates do not have to be settled all at once. An estate can stay open for years and carry on income producing businesses. They can also advise potential Trust Granters of ways trusts can give to nonprofits and doing so may give the trust a good refund when the Trusts Taxes (1041) s and state forms are filed.

North Carolina: 9/1 - 9/30/2022
That makes sense. I don't do the sum it up or the one off mess so I didn't realize the wins were combined. I guess when Fireball starts up people will have to play smart with .50 cents unless they live close to one of the offices and don't mind paying taxes. lol

I invite you to take a look at this site: https://www.usamega.com/ Then look at the Jackpot Analysis under both games. Take a good look at the first line regarding the Federal Tax over time for the annuity payments and the sudden extremely large Cash Jackpot Prize. Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot

Most of us don't care about paying the taxes because at the end of the day, it is STILL more more that we are getting then we have ever had before. Take the lump sum...

Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
The only reason to take the lump sum is that you're too close to the jumpin' off point. I mean, really- why take 41.5% right off the top and then pay another 42% in state and federal taxes on the remainder? That would seem foolish to me.

North Carolina Lottery winner: "$4 million is not much these days"
He sounds ungrateful and unhappy. If I won $4 million after taxes, I would feel freedom from quitting my job and having the time to travel, start a hobby that I enjoy and share a little with a few charities...all anonymously of course.

Gotcha... Thanks for the education on the tax aspect.... Still, even paying 42% in taxes, should be a nice nest egg for becoming debt free.. I would be doing the happy dance for sure

One Illinois lottery ticket wins $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
You do understand that our taxes pay for schools, roads, social programs, and many things that profit you every day? Our tax rates are better than more than a few other nations. Why so greedy???
