Congratulations to whoever (or whomever group) that won this! Finally going to do it. After both of these huge jackpots I'm joining the bandwagon. My start to play again is lower than most LP members----$50 million. Sure $20 million would be nice, but tired of feeding the coffers and not even $1`0 won.

Go the GA lottery website and click on Mega Millions. The news flash is now added. Starting jackpots are $50 million. (Georgia BTW is where the drawings take place). Though not crazy about the $5 price/ticket but I do like, unlike PB which cuts off 10X 'powerplay' Mega Millions does not. It's not like PB has 10X multiplier that often and the cut off needs to be eliminated.

Maybe because when LotteryPost puts out their lists of top (25?) jackpots and top cash prizes, the lists mix MM and PB... That would be the way most people look at a top 10 prizes list.. one similar to what the web site you are using uses...

There are lots of people that buy scratchers for $50 or more (in TX $100) for jackpots way less than $50 million. So while I personally won't be among them, at least regularly, there will be a lot of players willing to drop $5 on MM, odds notwithstanding.

Suze Orman was on one of those talk shows several years ago. She said when folks call her for $$$ (friends/relatives) they are screened through her Attorney who automatically says NO!! Just the Jackpot was played, reserved only for big jackpots. $4 won Friday night which went to a losing PB with PP DP Saturday.

I had something similar happen to me once. During one of the billion dollar jackpots, I went to a store to get tickets and I was told it would be a while because another customer asked to print 1,000 tickets. Luckily, there are multiple stores close by that sell tickets so I went to one of those instead. I'm not sure if anything can be done about these huge groups buying all these tickets. Someone will always find a workaround no matter what.

Actually Todd made a great point here. I also remember when Powerball raised the price to $2 per ticket back then. Also, they made the odds to win even more difficult.
