Ontario Lottery Corp. ignored claims of corruption
Scandal runs deep and wide; shoddy paperwork and turning a blind eye helped permeate corruption Ontario retail store owners and their families claimed about $100 million in lottery wins between 1999 and 2006, including tens of millions of fraudulent claims ignored by the public lottery corporation, the provincial ombudsman said yesterday. In a scathing report, Andre Marin said the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is more fixated on profits than the integrity of its lottery games and

They went to different conveinence stores, in the same general county area with several in the group getting a s

Well I tracked and tracked both day and night and then when things looked exactly right I filled out my playslip but the machine would not take it! And wouldn't you know the time cut off I wathced the draw and there they were the numbers that would have been on that ticket! Well, th

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
Rhode Island Lottery chief predicts Powerball and Mega Millions will merge in the future Just a few years ago, a $240 million Powerball jackpot would have drawn long lines at gas stations and convenience stores across the state. But last week there was little buzz. And forget about lines. Call it jackpot fatigue. Rhode Islanders' appetite for gambling has lowered. And we're not alone. Elsewhere in the region, sales of lottery tickets and other forms of gambling are either less th

R.I. lottery machine prints invalid tickets
They entered the store with hopes of striking it rich through a winning lottery ticket. They exited with bogus tickets all dated from 1999. A lottery machine mix-up Thursday resulted in roughly 70 invalid tickets being printed at a Cranston convenience store, the Rhode Island Lottery said Friday. The problem was caused by a field service technician for the gaming technology company Gtech Holdings Corp. who accidentally replaced a malfunctioning machine at Oaklawn Mart with a model termin

Most state lottery raffle games sold out
Around the United States, Christmastime raffle games have become the hottest ticket of the year, with most of the game tickets selling out well before the drawing date. The raffle games are loosely modeled after the largest lottery game in the world, Spain's El Gordo, which gives back an unusually large 70% of all proceeds in the form of prizes, and makes many instant millionaires. Unlike traditional lotto-style games, a fixed number of tickets are sold for raffle games, and the prizes are

GTECH explains pricey N.J. Lottery contract
Seeking to justify a price tag of nearly $32 million more than a competitor to run the New Jersey's lottery for the next five years, representatives of the state's lottery operator said Wednesday that their system is more convenient for vendors and would result in less down time and lost revenues for the state. Representatives for GTech, which won a new contract despite bidding $106.7 million to Scientific Games' $75 million, said the higher price comes with more assurance that its terminals

Was I discriminated against for playing lotto?
here's the big problem with the whole thing people get lottery machines to increase their business, not the lottery's business. They know they will have days when they either cant manage the lottery terminal or have to place an unfamiliar person on the terminal. the lottery has no interest in the machines they do not place people behind them. So in essence they are getting a terminal operator for free. people have some misconception that places that sell lottery tickets are making money off o

Protecting your numbers
Quote: Originally posted by Visar on June 13, 2006 Quote: Originally posted by Prob988 on June 13, 2006 I use a similar strategy. For many years I kept a file on certain types of lottery drawings and wrote a computer program to process them, accounting, among other things, for their frequency in drawings that resulted in higher than average numbers of winners. No such program is infallable, since the majority of tickets sold are quick picks, but you can increase the liklihood that if your numb
