$1 million That's enough for me to live comfortably while continuing to work. Early retirement sounds boring unless it's a massive amount of money, and that brings problems. I bought tickets for the $2 billion (really $1 billion with the stupid 50% annuity haircut) for Powerball only because it was a player's advantage. The Powerplay add-on would be more popular if they didn't have that stupid rule that the x10 is not available when the jackpot exceeds $150 million. The multiplier doesn't apply to the jackpot. Why do they care if people get a x10 on lower prizes? It should also apply to the second prize of $1 million. The odds of hitting that are so low, the higher payouts on that would add a whopping 8 cents to the expected value of a $1 bet.

I rarely play draw games. The house edge is ridiculous and the odds of winning are absurd. Usually I play the scratch-off games, and I am particular about which ones. When a certain game is only available at that stupid vending machine that has made its way on my ban list, I'm left with nothing to play. Yesterday, before I started this thread, I went to the convenience store down the street and tried to buy the $3 ka-pow bingo. They had none. This idiotic state lottery makes way too many

It's Florida - using different machines, different ball sets, running practice draws before final televised draw, etc. Just crazy. I have looked at it so many ways, so is it truly the odds or do pairs/numbers repeat? Last month as an example, Mid 17th-19th - 137, 013, 307 then eve 19th-22nd - 137, 314, 311, 237. So you have to wonder...same ball set? New ball set? These are the things that keep me up at night LOL. And just when you think you are on to something they throw you a curve ball. Here'

How Astronomical Is It To Get The Number Right In Each Column?Reply
Column 1 and 5 (or 6 if it's a P6) are the most important columns, IMO. Once those two columns are locked in, its puts a cap on the middling numbers and help reduce the odds to pin the right number down from the 2 to 4 columns (or 5, if a P6 game). I want to add further details here but that would be giving away valuable info of my system. Kudos for getting this much info out of me though.

MM was unlucky in that, for their highest jackpot annuity win of $980 million, there was an 8% chance someone would win (based on number of tickets sold since the previous drawing), and someone did win. The same thing happened in the two previous jackpot wins since the rule change, and MM was even more unlucky in that they sold fewer tickets and someone won it. With slow ticket sales and outrageous odds of winning, on average the number of rollovers will be much higher.

You're both too old to be passing on any drawing I'd agree if I was stupid enough to have no clue about the odds, or math in general. In fact it would be much easier to deal with. I'd agree if I was stupid enough to think that writing an extra zero every now and then was a burden.

Welcome to my world. Any time you start looking for a pair of straight numbers, like 749125, you are looking at one million to one against. We already have the 749, so the odds against getting 749125 become 3 orders of magnitude better at only one thousand to one against.
