Fla. senator proposes online Florida Lottery sales, again
Sen. Gwen Margolis, D-Miami, wants to make Florida Lottery tickets just a click or two away.
Margolis has reintroduced a proposal (SB 98) for the 2014 session that would allow the Florida Lottery to create a program so anyone 18 or older could purchase lottery tickets online.
The Florida Lottery doesn't offer tickets by mail, fax, or via the Internet, requiring tickets to be purchased from among 13,000 authorized retailers.

Lottery proposal faces long odds in Nevada
Motivated by a struggling education system, Nevada lawmakers are trying for the 23rd time since 1975 to establish a statewide lottery by amending the Nevada Constitution. Lottery e-mail irks Michigan lawmakers

TN Lottery board meets today, to hear Georgia proposal
The Tennessee Lottery Corporation Board is expected to hear a proposal Monday from Georgia officials about a potential deal between the state games.
The board's second meeting begins at 1:00 pm (Central).
The proposal involves pooling resources and expertise to keep down costs associated with the Tennessee and Georgia lotteries.

Alabama senator introduces competing lottery proposal
Alabama Sen. Jim McClendon, R-Springville, laid out a competing proposal Tuesday to Gov. Robert Bentley's plan to institute a statewide lottery as a means to addressing Alabama's budget shortfall. McClendon is still working on the details of the bill so he did not have a copy available.

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $700 million and many Alabamians are crossing the state line for a chance to win the prize.

A constitutional amendment that would legalize gambling in Alabama authorizes a lottery, casino gambling and expanded Indian gaming.
Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, a Republican from Birmingham, Ala., gave other state senators an initial draft of the legislation Thursday.
