I was simply taking a shot in the dark with my assumption- plus you have a law enforcement background, so you in a better position to view things from that perspective. More importantly though, is that he ends up with the money! Now had to gone to the press stating that he threw the winning ticket in the dumpster was now going to search the landfill, what an adventure that would be...for him.

I agree that I do not have much sympathy for either party. However, at 95 years old, the man's judgment may be nearly gone and we don't know the level of coercion applied to him. The former law enforcement officer should have known better and he probably did.

How much income would one have to have to purchase a $3.00 lottery ticket ? One would assume that something was most likely purchased with drug money if it was a major purchase not a $3.00 ticket. That's just GREED by Law Enforcement and the District and State Attorney's are all involved in this criminal behavior. Someone could give a person a few buck including family or friends.

I am not siding with the drug dealer or his girlfriend but it seems cops will use any excuse to seize property or cash. Having no job and being a known drug dealer to law enforcement just made it easier for the investigators to seek forfeiture.
