Former fiancé sues $188 million Powerball jackpot winner
By Kate Northrop The ex-fianc of a North Carolina Powerball winner is suing her for allegedly giving away over a million dollars' worth of property he claims were gifts given to him by her. Lamarr McDow, the former fianc of $188 million Powerball winner Marie Holmes, filed a lawsuit against her after she reportedly gave away his gifts consisting of cars, clothes, and miscellaneous property that totaled over $1.4 million in value. Holmes lived with her then-boyfriend McDow at the time of

NH Powerball lottery winner sues for anonymity
I do not view her as ungrateful on any level. If a trust was an option in her state, the lottery officials are aware a winner would not be signing the ticket as a claimant. So the lottery site telling people to sign their ticket is wrong and there should be a disclaimer saying while it may be advisable to sign the ticket, your signature would prevent anonymity if one chooses to claim via a trust. I think a lot of people are missing the legal significance of her lawsuit. Perhaps she has small chi

Lottery windfalls can buy anything except anonymity
Read the article posted on LP in 2007; it has all the lawsuit details including how Ford found out Shakespeare won. You want to make it sound as if Shakespeare's lawsuit just materialized out of thin air and that his publicized win was not the instigating factor. LMAO! Moore met Shakespeare a year after the lawsuit. Are you that lazy or can't you read the article that was posted on LP?

Lawsuits against lottery playes
There is a lawsuit that is going to be interesting to watch and Todd posted the information under Forum News - it's about a retailer suing a player for not $20.00 but $350,000. Who in their right freaking mind gets involved in a lawsuit with someone whose job is STRICTLY to take your Dollars and exchange it with either a scratch off ticket or a lottery ticket? I can somewhat understand if it was a shady guy who wanted to avoid paying child support, but a female entering into an agreement with a

wow did this kid screw up
The stupid mistake is thinking that you've got a clue. It's an especialy stupid mistake, since I said I used a betslip. As for a lawsuit, you don't need a really good case. You only need the filing fee. As we've recently seen with a lawsuit over a pool, once somebody files a lawsuit even the share of the prize that isn't being disputed may be frozen until the case is settled. I don't see any reason at all to buy a ticket that the original purchaser didn't leave with, when they'll be glad to p

Cheated lottery winner files lawsuit
A Dallas-area man who Travis County prosecutors say had his $1 million lottery ticket stolen by a convenience store clerk in 2009 has sued the Texas Lottery Commission and others in hopes of recovering all of his winnings. Lawyers for Willis Willis, a retired Grand Prairie maintenance man, filed the suit in state District Court in Travis County last week against the lottery commission, GTECH Corp, which runs the lottery, and the owner of a convenience store where Willis bought his ticket.

B.C. Lottery faces lawsuit from second problem gambler
A Vancouver Island man is suing the British Columbia Lottery Corporation because the company denied him a $42,500 jackpot on the grounds he's a registered problem gambler although the BCLC has never stopped him from losing money. At the time, Mike Lee was supposed to be barred from casinos entirely under the BCLC self-exclusion program, but his lawsuit contends that the company let him in and allowed him to gamble anyway. It's unconscionable to allow someone that has gambling issues to le
