Annuity or Cash??
OK Guesser, this is the prime reason for anyone who wins a MM or PB Jackpot to get a lawyer and a financial adviser before claiming the winnings! BTW I will have all of those people in place before going to claim the Jackpot! That way all of my bases are covered before claiming the Jackpot!

Lottery funds misused

keep your name private?
Not a blind trust , an inter vivos (living) personal property trust (revocable). You would be involved in the entire process, not just as a beneficiary, but also as a Grantor (person who creates the trust), Trustee (person who manages the trust in accordance with the grantor's requests), and the beneficiaries would be immediate family or anyone else you wanted to name. Some issues would be1. Successor trustee (someone to take over if you happen to become incapacitated or die, usually a spouse, b

Is it worth going to an anonymous state?
trust parties can remain anonymous, it's not a matter of public record.a personal property trust (the one best suited to claiming a lottery win) is an asset protection document. The IRS knows who you are for tax purposes, they don't post that info anywhere. The trust is a cleverly worded document that needs no further action than the stamp of a notary to execute. Grantor/Trustee/Beneficiary info is not a matter of public record either.Owners of multiple rental properties utilize the personal pro

trust
Hi everyone. This is long. Please share your thoughts.
The customary approach would be to establish two (2) trusts. The first trust would be, with the grantor's/winner's name (e.g., your name) disclosed on the face of the trust agreement. However, when a lottery claim is made by a blind trustee , it is not unusual for the lottery commission involved to require the trustee/claimant (who is the agent for the undisclosed/anonymous
actual winner) to provide a copy of the trust ag

Claiming Anonymously and keeping your winnings! (a paranoid approach)
Hi Everyone,
I'm a Longtime LotteryPost reader, first time contributor. I've been visiting this site and Todd's USA Mega for at least 5 years, been playing the lotto a lot longer than that. This probably seems like a big pretentious first post, but I joined because I wanted to share some thoughts and info I've accumulated over the years, if you don't mind. This is an awesome community and I love hearing your thoughts and rhetoric over the forum topics here, so I'd love to share one more, if y

How to Remain Anonymous?
Quote: Originally posted by michiganplayer on February 27, 2004 What must I do to set up a trust? You need to have a trust drafted, then have it notarized, that's it... although you need the help of a good lawyer to make sure it is iron clad and accurately does what you want it to...The lawyer does NOT need to know it is for collecting a winning lottery ticket...you could set one up for $1 and any assets the grantor sees fit to add to the trust at a later date Who do I go and see to set up a tru

Lottery winners use wacky names to claim prizes
An older gentleman walked into Cincinnati attorney John Brinker's office a few years ago seeking some help.
He had won $656,000 through the Ohio Lottery's Rolling Cash 5 game and wanted to preserve his anonymity. Ohio allows trusts to claim lottery prizes so the identity of big winners can remain a secret.
The man needed a proper name for his trust.
Brinker looked the winner up and down and, on the spot, came up with the perfect name The Wish This Had Happened Sooner Trust.
