Ok if I won a huge jackpot like the 92 mill on the mega millions tonight. The first thing I would do is go to Dave Ramsey's site and find the financial planner in my area he recomends and contact this person. I would do this before I even cash the ticket in. My husband and I have already discussed keeping 500k to just blow. I would get a Volvo Cross country. That is my dream car and we would buy and fix up the house we live in now. The rest of the money would go directly to the financial planner to do what needs to be done to ensure that we don't end up doing a Jack Whitaker. (What a messed up story!) All of my family knows that if I ever win a jackpot, they need not come begging. Not that I won't try to help them out. But a good chunk of the money is going into a trust that we won't even be able to get but so much out of. And even though I sometimes have a hard time telling people, "no!" my husband doesn't. -Bonnie

The stock market is often misjudged. Only inexperienced people lose money in the stock market. Many experienced people make millions or billions in the stock market.

If you invest $5M in tax free bonds it would generate $250,000 tax free every year.  Also if you invest in mutual funds it is not real risky.  check out Dave Ramsey for advise on types of mutual funds he recommends

I would start a family foundation and give away half of the money to my church and charities.  Buy two houses, finsih my Masters Education, travel the world and enjoy life on another level.

Some years ago I heard it said in answering the question of how he (she) spend their money:

"Some of my money I spend on women, some I spend on cigarettes and booze, and some I spend on gambling.

The rest I throw away foolishly."

Does any lottery winner come to mind?

Buy all of the surrounding land around my ex-mother in laws house and set up a 24 hour drum factory / day care for troubled toddlers.

That reminds me of what I would do. I would buy all the houses around where my brother lives, and move in the worst neighbors I could find or maybe a frat house. Hopefully It would knock down their house price If they did try to sell it.
