I don't believe anyone can win on a consistent basis playing the lottery or any other form of gambling. The odds of coming out ahead all the time are just too high. I know anyone can have a hot streak and win more than they lose for a time, but in the long run everyone will lose more than they win.

I would go as far to say that even if you win a major jackpot, if you plow all your winnings back into the lottery over a period of years, one day you will be as broke as the day before you won "The Big One."

People that say they win more money than they lose are lying to themselves. If they really could beat even the cash 3 games they could take the winnings and keep increasing the bets and eventually make millions. So why work?

Bottom line- If anyone ever does come up with a system that can beat the lottery, there won't be a lottery for us to play.

This is a well said post!.....

But, people do make a living from gambling.  But, very few make a living from playing the lottery.  Guess, it's best that way anyway.

I think you can do it...you may have to bite those fingernails pretty close some days, but with the right betting strategy it can be done, especially with Cash 3. But...and a big "but"....I don't think you could retire off playing it. Just enough, as tntea says, to have some extra nice things, like a vacation, or have your car payment taken care of, etc.

My vote is for maybe. If I win a lotto jackpot, the answer is yes. Otherwise, the answer is no because I would have to save my money for books, etc

If you can consistently spend $300 and win $500 every week then why not spend $3000 and win $5000? $2000 a week profit would buy a whole lot more things than a vacation or new car. Sure would beat working for a living.

The reason no one does this is because it can't be done.

profit $4000. give or take $500. And before everybody starts p.m. me I will let you in on a little secret on how I win. The answer is in grouping your numbers!!!!!!!!

We all like to play the lottery. Everyone here has a chance to win and winning is fun! I just don't think anyone can win all the time, or even most of the time.

It probably is true that very few people would be able to make a living that way, but I think it is possible. I'd say if anyone is seriously considering it, you should have a lot of money saved up and a plan to get back to work fast if it looks like it isn't working out. You'd have to really see it as a business and take it seriously. And of course consider anyone else that may be dependant on your paycheck.

In theory, if you hit on one out of every 4 drawings, and you play $1 on a number each day, you will make a little over $45,625 in winnings over the course of the year.  Think about if you hit one out of every 4 drawings and you played mid-day and evening.  You'd make $91,250  This is if you play the Pick 3.  Think about if you play the Pick 4.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

Cashman, hitting is not the problem.  It's making a profit that is the most difficult part. You spend $50 to make $60, that's hard to live off of....And no matter how many hits you get, the question is "How much did you spend in order to get that hit"? If you're making $1,000 /week as you mention, and you're spending $800 to do it, that's not enough to make a living from....though it would be more like having a part time extra job income, which is great...but not enough to not have a full time job.

only if it was the powerball jackpot... then one shot would do it ;-)

other than that... daily games will never add up to more than a recreational hobby for me... considering the fact I don't play 'em and all...

Playing more than one ticket per game is betting against yourself.
