I dont steer anyone toward a game unless I know they are tippers.. Believe me, I dont forget a tipper.. Others, get exactly what they ask for... Once they tip.. they are remembered..

MadI think clerks who give out tips on scratch-offs should be fired and they should not be allowed to purchase scratch-offs from the store they work.  It makes it a tampered with game for others.  It's not fair and it's cheating.  The clerks and the people who tip them get the winning tickets.  That's why I don't buy scratch-offs.  They get "stepped on."

There was a lottery employee who told a friend where a winning million dollar scratch-off was and that person drove to that city, bought the entire roll and got caught.lol  It's no different for that, just on a smaller scale.  But still wrong.  It's inside tipping.  Martha Stewart went to prison for it.  Just because it's only scratch offs doesn't make it any righter.

That million dollar ticket found in the trash was re-hashed from a store clerk and his friend who had bought a roll.  Neither one them deserved do-do.  That's what they get for cheating.

As for tipping - we tipped the house man and bought the house a drink.

Clerks should ring up the sells and give you your change and that's all - and take their minimum wage job and stop being dishonest greedy.

I have to agree somewhat.  This practice leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  I know for a fact they don't do it at my store.  The only question that they answer is "What's the most popular game(s)?"  They don't know if there is a winner due on a roll and aren't going to claim so.  (Anyone that does is a BS'er).

And in my 8 years of playing the lottery I've never seen anyone tip the cashier for a winning scratch-off ticket.

I still think this is an unusual thread.  It now makes me wary of the cashiers selling the tickets (after the NC clerk ripoff).  The state is beating up on you in the first place and now the cashiers at the store are ganging up on you too?   Hmmmm.....why buy 'em?

          I agree:

Shame on clerks who do that, my God do we not spend enough money with them anyway?

Of course it is not their money, it is ours.  Another reason from the quit tipping if you do society.  It just shows that  everyone unfortunately is out for themselves.  That is okay, but the people that think we need to tip to get this kind of service are nuts.  It is just like I said on another thread, everyone in reality is on their own.  I am not going to be beholden to anyone who is supposed to be doing his or her job and plays that underhanded game.

A clerk cannot guarantee a winner in a book.. That is ridiculous........ It is not cheating, to expect a hit.. No more than it is cheating telling someone you feel that trip 4's are coming ...

How can it  be a tampered with game for others.. Oh come on.. You have say 40 rolls hanging there..  Each having winners every 4 - 5 tickets..  Some big .. some free tickets.. Who really knows.. Each book has anywhere from  30 to 300 tickets on it.. How could someone guarantee a winner on a book.. (Someone who only sells them?) Impossible.  So what is the cheat there???

Comparing this to Martha Stewart has been the biggest laugh I have had today.. Believe me I laugh a lot during the day, working with my special education children.  (They can say some of the cutest, most honest things.. )  However, hearing this from someone who is an adult.. it is really a different kind of laugh.. one more of pity... *shaking my head*...  It really is sad...

As for wages for this job..  Minimum wage.. that was really cute.. I haven't worked for minimum wage since 1984... lol...............................

             ROTFL

Another thing, whether you tip or not.. No one cares..

Whether you play or not.. No one cares..

and whatever you think of me..  NO ONE CARES..  I know I don't...

The cashiers aren't ganging up on you.  How did this conversation get to this?

Here's another thieving clerk in LP news section.

You have to watch you back with lottery clerks.  I'm glad he got 5 years.  They should get Fed Time.

....so why don't you feel that bribery is a crime?  You are admitting that stealing is a crime, yes?  So let's say you really have insider information on lottery tickets and only provide that info to people who reward you. As you say, this is not something you do out of the goodness of your heart, but for money.  So, IMHO you are also guilty of stealing, like the person who robs the store of a candy bar - only you are justifying your action by calling it something else. What I mean is that an honest person who decides to spend her hard earned money for a chance at a win is being cheated by not being one of your "regulars."

"Others, get exactly what they ask for... "

Please explain this to me. Sounds like a threat. I walk into your store. I want to purchase a ticket with the few dollars I have left after buying groceries for a chance at my dream.  But the clerk behind the counter thinks "she's never given me a tip, so screw her."  Do you make sure those people get the losers?
