WHoops forgot to tell you the amount of tickets would be about anywhere from 250 - 500 tickets

Marshall

I'm no expert but if you are looking to buy 250-500 tickets using a strategy then you must be thinking about doing more than just buying a bunch of quick picks.  The strategy I've worked on is designed for buying 20-25 tickets, buying ten times that amount calls for a different strategy especially if you plan on making out play slips for every drawing.

The only thing I would suggest is run some simulations using several strategies.  You definitely will have a good chance of winning something with that many tickets

Call me crazy. But, I don't think this system is working well for you. The best advice I can give you is the advice my wife gave me......take a break.  For me, it was amazing how many fresh ideas I had after giving it a rest. It also allows you to see the forest rather than getting caught up in looking at all those trees. *L*

Please do not take it as a put down in any way, shape, or form. It is just a suggestion that has served me well in the past. *S*

You are a slave to the choices you have made.  jk

Sounds like good advice but I can't win unless I play and for me picking my combinations is half the fun of playing even when I don't win anything.  Since I don't like quick-picks and I plan to stay in the game, I will just have to find a better way of picking my combinations.  Thanks for the advice any way.

Although I've stopped posting to this thread I'm still working a better system for picking combinations to play in the MegaMillions game.  Tonight I'm going with 21 lines, my RNG tried to use each number twice and got into a loop at 21 lines because it couldn't fine any more combinations that fit the new rules I used with the numbers it had left.  These are the lines for those who are interested.

Good luck if you played tonight.

Your list looks like the lines were picked at random. Does your system pick a combo at random and see if it fits your rules?

Seems like you run the risk (unless you have a no-repeat mechanism in there) of it picking sets over and over that don't meet your requirements, making it take longer to complete a run.

One flaw I can see in your system besides looking random is you need to zoom into the winning combination. Filters will screw u up.

Yes my system does use just the basic RNG that's build into the computer language.  It may well pick the same combinations over if it's rejected but with the number of possible combinations available, that is not a problem.  Once a combination has been accepted it's stored in memory to be compared with other picks so it will only be picked and accepted once.  The program can hold up to 1800 combinations from a draw file for comparing with new picks and 200 combinations to be written to a play file when it's done picking combinations and has added a bonus number if necessary.   Since I never pick more than 50 combinations, space for 200 is plenty.

Looks can be deceiving.  While those numbers may seem randomly picked, a closer look will reveal all 56 numbers were used and none more than twice.   As Todd remarked in one of his replies to questions about his recently installed new RNG, if it had controls to make sure numbers never repeated or that all numbers appeared a fixed or minimum number of times then the results wouldn't be random.  My program manages to do that without being obvious.  It's not filters that limit my output, it's my budget.

RJOh - your tanacity is admirable...we have a group of 10 at work that play MM every Tuesday & Friday...we've been at it since 2003...I'd like to make one observaion concerning your efforts; you're trying to win each and every game (naturally); you might try looking for patterns that increase your odds of winning when that pattern appears but, using that same pattern, won't apply to every drawing...they're out there.  One other observation, many times, rather than playing multiple mega-ball numbers, we'll play just one...we're often not successful, but when we do hit, it's a nice payday (of course, divided by 10 doesn't do much for your wallet).

                  Best of luck to you!

Thank you, that's an interesting idea but I've not found a way of picking the winning megaball numbers that beats the odds and as such in the long run I would average about the same picking one number as picking 20 for each drawing.

Remember that works both ways, you pay 10% of the cost for tickets so get 10% of the winnings or 10% of the lost.

Speaking of tenacity, I read Jim395 post in the jackpot forum "This Is How It's Done(BIG PowerBall Win)", he seems to be spending big money and winning big too.

Even at that, assume all numbers have equal likelihood is an even worst filter. Assume 5 was gone hit. You picked 5 in 2 lines and paired it off with (10 - 2 ) = 8 other numbers out of 59 is not really giving it the best chance to match 3 numbers.

By the way...just for grins, try a mega-ball of #43 Tuesday night (9/29).  Our methods always work well using 20-20 hindsight...it's 20-20 foresight that's a problem...but try the #43 on at least one ticket.

#43 probably is a good number and I hope you hit it but it didn't make the list of 19 bonus numbers picked using my system.

Even at that, assume all numbers have equal likelihood is an even worst filter. Assume 5 was gone hit. You picked 5 in 2 lines and paired it off with (10 - 2 ) = 8 other numbers out of 59 is not really giving it the best chance to match 3 numbers.

Sounds like you have confused my MM system with PowerBall 59 numbers game.  The rules I'm using are based on the last 445 drawings of MM 5/56 + 1/46 matrix.  PB 5/59 + 1/39 matrix probably would have different rules.

For tonight's drawing I will only use numbers from the last 27 drawings which will automatically eliminate three numbers and I'm using a particular profile that may eliminate even more numbers.
