  I agree. I think seeing the other states tickets and colors in mass like that makes it feel like we got new tickets. Something different to the eye. I did count them today and it would be a $700 fee to buy one of each. I just think of the 1 ticket odds and no way I would feel confident getting back over $100. It would be fun, but $700 would be better invested in a $20 book or (2) $5 books. then again you could get alot of decent winners and make out . Darn you guys for giving me something else to think about..lol

  We also have stores here with multiple vending machines plus large counter displays for tickets. And some stores I've seen have the entire wall behind the cashier covered with shelves and shelves of tickets, multiple copies of each game so people can choose which roll they want to play. That would be a few hundred dollars worth to play 1 ticket from each open pack there.

  I don't think that was the point was to buy a ticket off every single roll in the store and all the duplicate games. Just play a single machine like the OP described, which usually has only 1 copy of each game, and a small subset of the tickets and games in the store. And it's a lot easier on the wallet.

  Well, against my better judgement I decided to try this again, but not on a self-serve vending machine. I did it in a store with one of those electronic ticket dispensers that the clerk controls from the register. Same principle though, 1 ticket of each game from this 20 bin display case.

  Did pretty good on this one: spent $80 and got back $170. This included two $50 wins on $5 games and two of the winners were Win-All symbols. I love getting a Win-All, even though they may be small sometimes, as well as other symbols. Number matching is a bore/chore.

  Was lucky to get wins on 2-of-2 $10 tickets, and 4-of-8 $5 tickets. But when trying this method, I think timing is very important. I went early just after this place opened for lunch, before the ticket snipers got in there. You definitely don't want to do this right in the midst of win chasers and ticket hawks cleaning out the machine, leaving you with nothing but losers.

  I've only done this once before, kind of. I played like 15$ worth of random tickets. I think a $5, two $3 tickets, a $2 ticket and two $1 tickets

   

  I hit $50 on a $3 crossword ticket, $20 on a $1 lucky spot ticket, and ten on a $2 ticket.

   

  So taking $80 back on a $15 investment worked pretty well. I usually don't buy a lot of random games.

   

  Closest thing I've done to that since was purchased four $5 tickets and hit $40 on a $10K a month for life and

  lost on a price is right, aces high, and hot hand. I've personally never won a thing on any of the three aforementioned

  losers and I've played 4-6 of each.

  Nice hits. I actually did the challenge today since I found $100 in my "loser" pile the other day. I will post when done. Your California Lottery ticket looks like our Black Tie

  Tough to get 24 tickets into the photo(especially with the large crosswords) but I can give you the highlights. $178 worth of tickets paid $163.

  Highlight was 2-10X symbols on a 10X $10 ticket. of course each was for $5 for $100 total. The $100 worth of 20's only paid back $20 and non of the $5 tickets hit. I got $20 on a $2 -$50K Jackpot, $10 on a $3 Cash-In ticket and a few face dollar wins. 

  7 total winners. $20 on Diamond Millionaire(I already knew someone hit $200 on that roll), $10 on Black Tie, $100 on 10X(002), $10 on Cash In, $20 on $50K Jackpot, Free ticket on $1 Life and $2 on $1 Lucky Spot.

  I have my stack to do. I'll post the results and photos a bit later on...I have a few of the $3 and $5
  
  'play' games to do. I don't like them but for the one each challenge, I had to buy them lol.

  Nice results omiller! I like seeing the variety of tickets in other states too. You got back better than 90% so I'd say that is a win on the challenge.

  So we got NY, CA and PA. C'mon other states, represent! Take the vending machine challenge!

  I'm still deciding on where and when to try my 3rd attempt.

  Thanks. I was debating going to the same machine and skipping the ticket I hit $100 on and doing the same challenge. I figured outside of that I only hit $63 out of $178(losing on 4 out of 5 $20 tickets). If you have self service ones that allow you to cash tickets at the machine, i would skip those. too easy to "hawk" those. Maybe I will do the challenge at the grocery store on the way home tomorrow.

  That is great!!  Good for you!  I would love to do this but I'm a chicken. Our machines have too many $20 tics in the case.

  Whoa! $1000 hit on your vending machine sweep! Outstanding! Congrats dr65!!! 

  There seems to be a trend here...not a bad idea to try this vending machine challenge once in a while. The results might surprise you.

  Congrats.. I wimped out on the way home. I got one DM ticket(funny since it is one you hit 1K on), but mine lost. Not sure I ever saw the 10X on that game. I have seen the 5X on MCE. That necklace would be kinda cool.  Now after seeing this, i want to play again tomorrow.lol
