An example. You win one number + the Mega number should equal \$2.00 (Is this correct). Is the store suppose to keep half?

NO. The lottery would take care of retailer commission. You don't need to worry about that. You would get 100% of the prize.

If the clerk kept half he ripped you off.

Notify the Lottery.

but these folks prove why freedom to record a right, get these beeps fired

i would raise hell on earth if someone tried to steal a prize form me

i sure think ever state lottery needs do heavy undercover "small/big wins/ etc setups and see if any of clerks bite

that's how much i hate theft.

future can't happen faster, we need more stuff like google glass to record this stuff happening in future

Stores here print a payout slip that shows how much you won. Some clerks will show you the slip without asking, some you have to ask.

If this happened that clerk has to be among the dumbest crooks in America. He could lose his job, the store could lose customers, get bad press and ultimately, lose its license to sell lottery.

You can't beat all that for \$2 with a stick.

My greatest accomplishment is teaching cats about Vienna Sausage. When I need a friend, all I need do is walk outside, pop open a can, and every little critter in the neighborhood drops by to say "Hi!"

I agree but my preference would be to remove clerks from the process completely.

If we can do most of our banking business through an ATM, I'm sure we could manage our lottery business through a similar machine.

and people who don't have enough sense to check thar tickets b4 having a clerk check it for them deserve to be taken

The gullible need to be protected...not punished.
Has anyone ever overheard something not quite right and kept quiet thinking: The
poor schmuck..or....better them than me?

One reason our country, for one, is in the state it's in is because we've got an
individualists' disease..every man for himself/I got mine you get your's/ what's your's
is mine and mine my own...and so on.
I wouldn't see past and excuse the criminal by blaming the victim. At all.

The answer is no and for the same reason the store doesn't keep half of the jackpot winnings. I've heard stories of clerks charging handling fees for wins over \$100. The obvious is to contact the lottery commission, but based on the number of stories we see, it's unlikely they are doing anything about it.

The best advice is to cash any size prize at a large volume store or a store where know the owner.

The reply to the clerk should have been, "Since you are keeping half of the winnings, then you won't mind paying half of the \$100 in lottery tickets I am about to buy..."

Nah, he's busy looking for a new job since the store clerk gig didn't workout for him.

I didn't lose my password or find a new clerk job. The reason I haven't responded is this post has gone totally out of control. It was a simple question and some of you people started going in an unknown direction. In fact some of the people that responded should look at how stupid they sound. This post needs to close.
