That's right Norway. Jade is a rare jewel. Most of the time he's mostly over my head and most of the other knuckle heads here.

In the old days Jade would have been burned as a witch by these towns people.

Eventually, some kind person who speaks our language, otherwise known as "stupid," will come forward and explain it all for us.

    Jade is a rare jewel.

      I Agree!

This seems quite straightforward to me.  Jade has reworked Thoth's "distance" formula such that each Pick 3 and Pick 4 combination is assigned a value that is either minus, zero or plus.

Jade then draws the analogy to card counting in Blackjack.  In other words, by keeping a running total of the assigned values for each combination as it is drawn we can see when the game is playing normally (total near zero) or when things are out of whack (high total, either plus or minus) and likely to correct.

So, too many minus numbers indicates that more plus numbers will be coming up and vice versa, while a near-zero balance indicates that there will be a mix of plus and minus.

    Brilliant!

      Lunch break.

With keeping track of the running total, you can keep on adding up a running total for as long as you'd like.

It could go on forever, but if you think about what happens in blackjack, you might want to reset to 0 after a certain number of draws.

In blackjack there is a fixed number of decks being used, some use 2, others 6 or 7.

The basic idea here is at some point the decks get shuffled and the card counting starts over.

In the case of this Pick 3 example, we could reset at 30 draws, or 90, or a full years worth.

This should give some idea of other ways of using these n values and not just focus on a running total forever.

The Pick 3 Sums n Balanced Boxed Combos Version

We've been playing round with a balanced n value for sums so we can apply the same counting technique.

In Excel, if the sum is in cell A1, the formula in another cell is: =ROUND(A1 - 13.5, 0)

This make the range balanced from -14 to 14 and there is no 0 n value.

Below is a table with these new n values and boxed combos.

The graph below shows how the regression and waves follow the running totals and has the 41 Index line for the projection.

From the projection we can estimate the n value of both LMH-n and SUM-n.

We work backward by rounding the projections of 12.45969728 for LMH-n Total and -8.74632744 for SUM-n Total to come up with an n value of 12 for LMH-n Total and -9 for SUM-n Total.

The next step is to figure out the difference or change from the last draw.

            LMH-n becomes 12 - 13 for n value; which is equal to -1 and SUM-n becomes -9 - (-13) or -9 + 13 n value; which is 4.

Those n values have combos for each of them.

            LMH-n -1 has 011 023 035 047 059 122 134 146 158 233 245 257 269 344 356 368 455 467 479 566 578 677 689 788 899

            SUM-n 4 has 089 179 188 269 278 359 368 377 449 458 467 557 566

We could use these two sets to further filter the combos down by finding which is common in them both.

            LMH-n -1: 011 023 035 047 059 122 134 146 158 233 245 257 269 344 356 368 455 467 479 566 578 677 689 788 899

            SUM-n 4: 089 179 188 269 278 359 368 377 449 458 467 557 566

            Common in both sets: 269 368 467 566

We could expand these in to straight combos.

            269 296 629 692 926 962 368 386 638 683 836 863 467 476 647 674 746 764 566 656 665

            21 straight combos.

              Questiona:

Are there 2 charts for each?

              LMH-n and SUM-n

I noticed you reworked the SUM-n chart would you have to also rework the LMH-n chart as well?

MN Daily 3 for 2014-09-03 ABC drawn as 765 or an LMH of 567

                  Close on a few boxed 269 368 467 566

Suppose 665 being just 1 off could be close too.

Will the "Wave Matrix" addin for Excel work for Excel 2010?  Have not installed it yet.

I'm trying to replicate your Minnesota Pick 3 game into Excel:

                        Download link:

                        https://app.box.com/s/ifymwp05tbu7ufl5x6ht

I'm off to work so I did not have time to complete it or look at your posts relating to the Excel addin you created.

Do you have a formula on calculating the "Reg & Waves" columns?

                        Very interesting post you created!!

We think it does, but don't have Excel 2010 to test.
