I've always said I'd rather be lucky than good any day. Especially when selling furniture. But also when playing the lottery.

    Interesting question.

In my opinion, luck is always gonna be better with JP games and scratch-offs 'cause there's no way to measure just how well a given approach is faring. With the small games, though, skill is king and will produce measurable results that can be adjusted.

Small games, frequent wins, and regular payouts 'cause.....

I think they both go together like working hard and lucky.  As Mark Twain once said "The harder I work, the luckier I get".  I think the more skill you are at playing a game, the luckier you'll be.

The question then is "Does it take any skills to play the lotteries?".

To answer your question RJoh, it certainly does take skill to play this game, as it does to play the game of  LIFE - ya just gotta know the rules first, then follow them!  My opinion for real, but for sure its one of the greatest truths, believe you me!

Luck to me is this Happy-Go-Lucky Leprechaun, going berserk, bouncing of forest trees; who just happens to land in someone's lap when they weren't looking and craps out a pot-of-gold for 'em at the sight of being caught by surprise.

I voted luck, assuming we're talking about lotteries.

A California court case once determined that poker is a game of skill because over the course of play all the players would be dealt the same amount of good and bad hands but winning was decided by how they played them.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                  Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Bingo! That captures it perfectly.I bowl, shoot pool and play cards, and it took me years of practice to be skilled at playing them. i am so good i have confidence going after even the best. But playing the lottery it's impossible to gauge as a skill.  Because nobody wins on  consistent basis. It's dumb luck.

I guess it depends on what you're talking about.  Definitely lucky in regards to the lottery.

If you're talking about women, then it's nice to get lucky, but if you're not any good, you'll be lucky to have a second time.

Unfortunately luck...No matter how much science or math you may put into it, I believe it will all come down to luck...But it sure can be fun and exciting along the way...

                            Skillfully Lucky.

                            or

                            Luckily Skillful.

While there might be elements of luck that lead to it, it is said that those who have skill don't have it just because they were lucky, but if they have skill in a way it can be said that they are lucky, because so many people don't have skill.

                            ---------------------------------------

If we are talking about winning jackpot prizes, most of the time those who win, win by luck and not by skill.

In other words, statistical chance or statistical probability appears to sometime(s) favor some people and I guess that we can call that luck or being lucky.

So if our goal is to win a jackpot prize, then it might be best to be "Lucky".

Because even those who are very Skill-full might never win a jackpot prize and if they ever win, there will be both and element of skill and an element of luck and the element of luck in this case would be much more important than the element of skill, because we are talking about odds that are almost impossible to overcome just by skill, most people if anybody at all, will ever have so much skill that they can win jackpot prizes at WILL.

                            ----------

I like to say that people make their own luck, by that I mean that the more skill that you have the more lucky that you also are, so you are making your own luck.

But I still stand by what I said above about winning jackpot prizes, luck is king.

At this particular time this is my opinion, which could change or not later.

Unless they chose to buy a QP, every lottery player has their choice of any of the numbers and the numbers of ways they wish to play them.  There is no waiting to be dealt a winner, they are victims of their own choices.
