I think now that people are seeing just how hard it is to hit it now...many will buy a ticket instead of ticket(s) like they use to. I think PB just hurt themselves with this move. Sure i will buy a ticket but that will be about it with these odds. They needed to add more ways for people to win to keep the excitement going because most know they will not hit the jp so they aim for the lower winnings. PB just really screwed up IMO...the way this jp has grown just shows how much harder it is to win...i'll buy a ticket but beyond that why bother handing over more money for worse odds and no greater chances at smaller prizes.

Agree. It worked once, but will it work a second time? Or will they loose sales again because who's going to to play for a lousy 40 million with the odds so high after this? Better prizes for the lower level matches would keep up some level of interest.

First, kindly stop the nonsense of trying to dictate what people should or shouldn't have. That's not your call to make and unless you've taken a vow of poverty is insanely hypocritical.
Second, UK players were upset that ticket prices went up and that the odds of winning decreased. Big JPs weren't the issue.
Third, enough with the wussification of EVERYTHING. The only losers in life are the ones too afraid to take a chance.
People have been killed for winning $50,000 - $1 million jackpots. So if you're afraid of what might happen, don't play at all. A small jackpot isn't going to keep you safe. But don't assume that a person would not be able to handle the money or attention of a big win just because you can't.
We saw frail, elderly Gloria claim the largest single payout in history and after the first few months has managed to completely eschew the limelight. If little old Gloria can handle that much money without making negative headlines on a monthly basis, I know without a doubt that I'll be okay. I don't need people like you to try and protect me from money. I play with the hope of winning with the full understanding of ALL that entails.
You think those who own professional teams should stop paying players those big salaries just because some people couldn't handle their wealth? I'd love for any boss of mine to tell me I can't get a raise or bonus because other people haven't been able to handle that kind of windfall. That's their problem, not mine.
I too would prefer Cersei Lannister to Tiny Hands. She always pays her debts, hasn't filed 6 bankruptcies and is educated enough to know Nambia isn't a country.

Also, the multiplier no longer applies to the 2nd place (5 + 0) prize. If you don't buy the powerplay you get a million, if you do buy the pp you get 2 million. Even if the 10x multiplier is drawn, 2nd place remains 2 million.

As someone stated before of course Im going to buy a ticket with the hopes of winning the billon dollars..I dont personally think anyone will be put in danger as long as your smart about it..if your unlucky enough to be from a state where you cant be anonymous..I forget what they are called but they basically claim the money for the winners..also people have memories like gold fish..just wait two to three months before claiming..also one of the things I love about huge jackpots is it creates alot of second prize winners and the liklihood that the jp will be won by multiple winners..

They should of capped it at 1 bill and rolled the excess to the second place prize. That's what they did with the euro millions. No need for the 10x if they did this.

I don't think it should be capped. Let it roll until is won. Hopefully only one person wins it. No, this jackpot is no different than past jackpots as far as putting winners in danger. Millions are millions. You just have to use your head. What this jackpot will do I'm sure is take food off many people's tables the way they are buying tickets.
People are more complicated than the masks they wear in society...

I agree. If the top prize for Powerball was a million bucks, the pot would still be stuck around 50 million IMHO. People just don't get excited over a million partly because there are bigger jp's available, plus a million dollars doesn't go very far anymore.
That said, I would love to see more 2nd place prizes too. I personally would be very happy with a million bucks. I think the matrix change should have increased the red balls in order to keep the JP from being hit too often, and decreased the white balls so more million dollar prizes would be won. But you've definitely got to keep the top prize high in order to generate enough sales to pay for the extra 2nd place winnings.

If they do that. People will stop buying lottery ticket and lose interest fast. People love to see Record to be broken?

There are literally hundreds of games out there geared towards more people winning small jackpots. If you have a problem with large jackpots, play those others. Why should it be fair for your own personal views to infringe on what others prefer. Them winning large jackpots do not affect you in any way. And they certainly aren't calling for bans on small jackpots lotteries. You have the option of playing what you like as do they. What do you think gives you the right to impose your views on someone elses legal entertainment?
