Very interesting. Great refresher for some people, and great info for new players as well. Is this a software that one can download?

    Thanks for sharing.

              And you downloaded it?

Yes, it's not a computer program, just instructions, and 3,000 charts about sums, Vtracs, and everything in between. I'll wait for the instant version, like hit enter. Green laugh

Fart jokes aside, a most interesting paper.

The devil, however, is in the details.  I imagine that the development of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) numbers was a major undertaking.  First you have to assess the reliability and success rate of various filters, assign weights and rankings and do your eigenvector calculations.  Multiplying the matrices would make it out of bounds for most.  And then, the success of your AHP ranks would depend on how well you were able to assess the relative importance of the various filters.

This is a quantified version of what Mon El was trying to show us with filters earlier this month.  Mathematics mimicking art?

Well, let's see if I can answer everyones' questions and concerns...

I have a couple of spreadsheets I use to do this.  One is very large and unwieldly and needs to be cleaned up some. I export the "database" to another spreadsheet to do the filtering.  I use Excel's AdvancedFilter tool, it's great.  I'd have to clean up both before posting them for others to download and use.

No - there are no viruses in my posted PDF file (as far as I know - please use your own virus scanning tools to make sure).

The F.A.R.T. name was a joke, well it made me laugh!  I was sure some would think this method stinks (get it :-)).

The AHP method is actually not that hard to implement in Excel.  You should be able to find a couple of example spreadsheets online, stick to the .edu sites.

I was curious if anyone else had tried using these filters in the same order with good results (obviously without the AHP).  If so let us know.

I have not back tested this tool enough to say whether it provides enough wins to cover your bets and more.  It's just a matter of time, I hope to have some time soon to accomplish this.

                        Thanks for all your feedback.

Thanks!  I will do some research and see what I can come up with.

Any assistance in deciding what filter to use in any particular situation is of immense value.

There are no macros in this file.  So if you download it and it says it has macros, it's been tampered with - do not use.
