Not to be a Debbie Downer, but there is a huge difference between Sudoku and Keno. Those definitions in Sudoku make all of the difference in the world as it is a fixed target. It is much different when the target is constantly changing like they do in random games.
The odds for NY pick 10 are roughly 1 in 8.9 million based on 1.6 trillion different number combinations. Once enough rules are in place to limit the possible number of combinations to less than 9 million combinations you lose the ability to have a chance of winning every day.
Every additional rule that is put in place that further reduces the number of playable combinations increases the average gap between the drawings of when the rule combination has a chance of winning.
For example if I want to have a 1 in a million chance of picking the correct numbers I could break the 80 numbers into 20 group of 4 digits each. This means that in order to achieve my 1 in a million target I have to first pick 10 out of 20. There are 184,756 possible combinations. On average there are 14 segments that potentially have winning numbers giving me a 1 in 184 chance of picking the right segment with some days it being higher while other days being lower.
So under ideal circumstances I would need to play 184 drawings at 1 dollar each just to get to the 1 in million target. Of course I if would pick from the 20 10 times it would drop the days down to roughly once every 18.

Lets say you were only ever going to take 0-5...That's 638 combinations. Apply the rules above, and you're down to 536.
So that's 84% of the trimmed down combinations (Taking 0-5)... with 97% overall accuracy.

Actually 0 -10 is 11 combinations, not 10. 1-10 or 0-9 would be 10. If you were to only play values between 0-5 then the number of drawings where you had no chance of winning would increase exponentially for each digit under 9 that was removed.

I really appreciate what you are doing Datapile. I would really like to see you guys come up with some number selections methods based on these drawing consistencies I have observed long ago....as I have many.
The great thing about The NY Pick 10 is that there is no split of the jackpot. We all win the full amount on any draw.
Here is a fun truth.. Keno is the only lottery game where twice as many numbers are drawn as needed to win the jackpot.
There are many ways to break 70 or 80 numbers in to subsets.
