A one million $ annuity would create a $50k per year income @5%, and anyone can live on that.....

Not me. LOL. I make more than that now and scrape by after helping my adult youngsters who are worse off than me. I could downgrade my standard of living by moving from a safe, secure environment with a tiny backyard for my little doggie to a less secure, less desirable location in an apartment with only a balcony for my little doggie. If that's the case, I'll need more ammo.

really, wih a jackpot as big as thepower ball.$425 million there should be more than one jackpot winner by splitting it five ways rather than one prize. the money will cerculate more and more people will buy more tickets because of the amount of first place jackpots, think about it,it really makes sense to have more winning jackpot ,five is better than one any time.

I think they need a plan for "spreading the wealth" on every PB draw..........

Pet peeve: people who think they or someone/something needs to set limits on how much money others should have. I do find it ironic that those in govt usually propose that sort of thing after they have made their millions by virtue of their govt job (Congress) allowing insider trading.  They then brainwash the masses with the greed of envy saying key phrases like 'fair share', 'rich white dudes', 'evil rich', and 'greedy corporations'.

Perhaps most could live on 50k per year but not all. There are some who pay over 50k per year just in property tax.

I Agree! Congress and the Government is constantly going after private individuals for insider trading when many of their own members participate regularly with privilege information. They continually vilify these folks and yet fail to look at themselves in the mirror.

Thanks but, I leave it up to random quick pick luck. I've hit 4 of 6 numbers in sweet million, 5 times in the last 2 years, which pays $40 each time. The odds of that are about 1 in 400. Each time I get 1 set of QP numbers, so that's just over 200 plays in 2 years. "On paper", it should take about 2000 weeks (20 years) to hit that 5 times. The nylottery page lets you search your numbers for past drawings, and each time I won, past drawings were only 3 numbers for $3, or no winning at all. I have my $1 sweet million QP for tonight, and I hold a lot more hope that I'll win $660,000 after taxes tonight, as opposed to winning Powerball on Wednesday.

That being said, "lady luck" seriously needs to smile down on me. I've had the worst time by far of my life since 2009, and I'm now at critical mass for survival. I was married 10 years, never cheated, never hit her (or any woman), didn't do drugs nor was foolish with our modest dual income (about $60,000 combined per year), but she walked out on me without saying a word in 5/09 and flew 3000 miles away to be with an old childhood BF she hadn't seen in 25 years. I completely fell apart emotionally from that in 2009. I was too out of it to even keep working, lost my job of 6 years. We had a house with a 30 year mortgage that she actually pushed for, not me, with both of our names on it. I couldn't find a roommate or another job so a few months after she left, I had to move out, I put the house on the market which didn't sell, and the bank foreclosed. We both had perfect credit prior to that which is of course since ruined. At least she got crucified in the divorce when she stood in front of the judge in a nevada courtroom and I was on speaker phone here. She got next to nothing instead of a 50/50 split, because the judge didn't like that she abandoned a house with a mortage due of almost 150k, from a long term marriage in which her physical safety was never in jeopardy. I never heard her voice again, let alone saw her, after the divorce in 12/09. I have no family, no kids. The couple of close friends I had prior to getting together with her in 1999, all got married and had kids since then and don't really have any time for me. I've been living in a small studio apt for $700 per month rent (NY state is expensive) and was working making only $11.50 per hour. Then I lost my job in 4 months ago for false reasons, was also denied unemployment, and now I'm on food stamps, haven't been able to get another job yet. I'm "overqualified" for minimum wage based on my past jobs, but jobs in the area of what I've done, are few and far between. I also lost my car in 2011, which the ex also wanted in 2008, a year before she left. I was only able to keep up on the $300 monthly payment from summer '09 until last year, then I lost the car too. I've been walking or taking the local bus to limited areas since then. This also severly limits which jobs I've even been able to apply to because it needs to be on the bus route or within walking distance (last job was only 1.6 miles from here). I paid August and September rent, but didn't have enough $$$ left to pay from October until now. The landlord gave me an eviction notice on 11/1, legally I won't be forced out until January but, it doesn't really matter right now because I have less than $100 left to my name. Food stamps don't pay for cat food and litter for my 3 cats, or other non-food items. I've already sold the cd's and dvd's I had at FYE in the mall for about a buck each on average, I don't have anything left to sell that anyone wants. So.....yeah, this is it. Win it all now in the lottery, or else I'm toast.  Unhappy

Frank Be very carefull if you do happen to beat the odds and win this Monster Jackpot.  I would almost Guarantee that if you go Public your Ex-Wife will be lawyering up and coming after your money!  Along with probably half the Gold Diggers in your state.... LOL    If by some chance you do win claim it quietly and get legal help quickly.   But Good Luck and I hope your situation improves.  Many of us have been through the ringer in the past few years with the economy in the shape it's in......It can and WILL get better my Friend.

Ammo prices have skyrocketed.  It'd be cheaper just to keep living where you are.

One doesn't need a single winner to get the money circulating from many different people.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who would share the winnings with many others, in my case with 16 relatives plus my partner.  (No, it wouldn't be shared equally or I'd have more gift taxes due than I had money left.)  The younger relatives, especially, would likely be spending the first few years of annual payments rather quickly for some desired upticks in their standard of living.  And there would be plenty of other people sharing the wealth through scholarships and other worthwhile causes for the very reason that I'd never need even a small fraction of a jackpot that size.

If your worried about Gift taxes, theres still time to become a Amish Mennonite and not have to pay them.
