So.... they stop her from giving money to a pastor but not from bailing out hot sauce.

I don't think she owes the pastor anything...i do believe he sought her out because she is a lottery winner.

I just find the choices made here very interesting.

They stopped her from giving money to him...assuming it was ever promised in the first place. They never stopped her from giving $700,000 to the church. Nor did they stop her from starting a foundation to help others. Seems to me that other than bail money wasted, the choices they made were good and legitimate ones. I don't get why people are acting as if giving money to this con artist is better than bailing out Hot Sauce. While I would leave him in jail, I get that she does have a biological, emotional and psychological bond with the guy, so she feels obligated to help him. Why draw parallels between that and throwing money away on a stranger who is so obviously a huckster?

    • Now that picture of Francis praying at the edge of her driveway in public is so wrong, is this behavior common in that part of the country, l have heard of drive thru prayer,  but never driveway prayers? I wonder if this act was " before" he asked for the $1.5 mil or after? It's possible that they ran a background check on Francis and noted that he has a penchant for seeking out lottery winners to  pray/ prey over.

People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it- George Bernard Shaw.

God knows that this pastor{small p} is a con artist. Now Ms Holmes needs to put some of that money into investigating and exposing this dumbass masquerading as a man of God. I have a funny feeling that NC thinks that this girl{woman} is some kind of ATM. More reason why you should keep your mouth shut when you win the lottery. Anonymity Rocks.

Great points, more people should take note.

Interesting a lot of you saying Verbal contracts generally aren't worth anything, has to be signed on paper and notarized, yada yada yada, but did we forget the recent story of a retired teacher and her boyfriend with the oral agreement and she had to pay money based on he said she said?

Marie has shown by her behavior that she is not the sharpest tool in the shed.  Standing outside the store showing a reporter the ticket before she turned it in.  Bailing out her last baby daddy 3 times. Who knows what else she's done for people that hasn't made the news.  This POS realized that and decided to try to take advantage of her.

I wonder how much money she has left. She's going to stay in Shalotte until she is broke because she isn't sensible enough to leave and make a better life somewhere else for herself and her children. A lot of people are happy she won the lottery.

I am puzzled because when "hotsauce" let this preacher in to pray, was he  not standing there when he asked for $1-2million from Marie? He should have whooped his butt then.

Classic example of not following these rules!!!

                1.  DO NOT Tell Anyone you won!    Not family members, friends, pastors, cousins, the mailman!!
                2.  Make sure when they take your picture you are wearing dark glasses, a wig, heavy make-up, loads of padding and an overcoat with boots.  No one will know it's YOU!
                3. MOVE!!!   Collect the money and get in your car and GO!
                4. Have a boyfriend?   Get rid of him!   He didn't marry you, so you are SINGLE!!
                5. It's okay to take your Mom and Dad if they SWEAR not to tell anyone.  If you can't trust them, leave them a cool million and go without.
                6. Hire a Lawyer and an Accountant with the instructions to tell those that want a hand out ...... NO!

AS I said ... she doesn't "owe" this pastor anything...nor anyone else.  If he happened to meet her and felt directed to pray for her that's all good but I would say that he overstepped a boundary when he asked her for money.  Also, I have no doubt that he sought her out because of the lottery win.  In my opinion she also should of received counsel from family after the 2nd and definitely before the 3rd bail out.  My "choices" comment concerned the bail money only.

We all here keep saying it, but lottery winners just don't listen: DON'T DO PUBLICITY, DON'T TELL ANYONE.  It attracts every con man, grifter & flim flam man... yes, some of them are pastors as well...

When she first won, you would think she was the most deserve person to win the lottery because of how she was talking . I see this was coming, but what i didn't see is how dumb she was to bail a drug dealer not once and not twice, but four times. I guess it is right to say that she's going to be  poor again in a couple years to come. At this rate of stupidity, its impossible she won't be broke . but I hope that don't happen . only a fool who had nothing would come to so much money that he or she don't even earn and to blow it. I'm just patiently waiting my turn so I can finally fix this stupidity thing of lottery winner gone broke and stuff. I'm gonna win the lottery soon and Im going to Inspire many people.

Beginning to think that if you win the lottery you should release a public statement right there and then stating:

"I'm not giving any of you anything, don't ask me, don't call me, don't come within 50ft of me, if my pitbull doesn't get you, a bullet will. I don't care what I told you or you think I told you, I am saying it right now, no one is getting any of my money, have a good day." LOL
