BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho woman's streak of playing the same lottery numbers since 1989 finally paid off when the numbers earned her a $390,000 jackpot.
Rosemary Loveland said she has been entering the same numbers in the weekly drawings since the Idaho Lottery began in 1989, and Friday morning she discovered her numbers for Thursday night's drawing qualified her for the second-tier prize on the Idaho Lottery Draw Game Lucky for Life — $25,000 a year for life, or a $390,000 lump sum.
"I looked at the numbers and I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. You bet I recognized them right away," Loveland said. "I called my daughter and told her 'I did it! I did it! I did it!'"
Loveland, who took the lump sum option, said she plans to invest her winnings for her children and grandchildren.
Good for her.
After 27 years I hope she at least broke even!
What a beautiful first name "Rosemary" and a positive last name "Loveland". This is a happy story to start the day with. Thank You Todd!
Congratulations Mrs,Rosemary Loveland Spend Wisely
I'm no math wizard but i say she did good $2.00 a draw two draws a week for 27 years.
I hope she'll save 1/2 that money and cross a few and many things off her bucket list
I Hope the first things she Considers is to Move to somewhere warm.
I never been to Idaho i assume it gets COLD there in the Winter time...
But i do like them Idaho Potatoes
Now she can finally stop playing those numbers. Wow, that's persistence.
Keep your numbers in you just never know.
Sometimes persisence pays off.
sometimes it gets you a restraining order...lol
helpmewin,
You're correct if that's all she ever played.
Congratulations!!!
It was a weekly drawing. Assuming the price was always two dollars per line and assuming she only played one line per week, she would have invested roughly $2,800 over the past 27 years. She would have earned far less if she'd parked it in the bank and unless she was a stock picking whiz, she'd have earned less in the stock market.
The breaking even after 27 years was a joke.
Come on people.
Why bother questioning if she even out her winnings or not? The look on your face shows everything.
She looks like a very down to earth person. Congrats to her and I wish her the best!!!
We've only had Lucky for Life for a couple of years. So I have to assume she's played those numbers on every applicable game. 27 years on both Powerball and Megamillions. A whole bunch of years on Wild Card ($1) and Hot Lotto ($1). And a few years on Lucky for Life ($2) and probably Weekly Grand ($2) too.
I'm not gonna do the math, but she spent a whole lot of money over the years. I bet she still came out ahead though.
Wow, I can't even fathom this 27 year commitment!
I wonder if it was mentally exhausting wading through 27 years of paying for weekly chances to win a jackpot?

Congratulations to her. Think I'll play my birthday on all my tickets for a couple of draws--can't hurt.
A commitment is a promise. My Grandparents were married for 57 years. Rosemary knows what a commitment truly is.
Congratulations
Congratulations!
Now someone explain this lottery to me. It started in Connecticut in 2009, and wasn't available outside New England for sometime and Idaho later on according to Wikpedia. So my point is she may have played the same #'s, just not on this lottery the entire time.
Personally stopped playing about a year ago in KY and Season Ticket from MA.
What is great about LFL is it is not a RNG and still drawn in Connecticut.
hope she broke even ,..........lol
restraining order
Not sure but she don't look like the kind that would bet the Farm.
Good Luck
One of the floor techs @ the hospital I work in was said to have won $50K last week. I searched high and low for him as I spoke to him hours ago and he didn't tell me. Said I'll find him on my way out. I went up with a sh-t eating grin and said 'Reggie, don't you have something to tell me?' He said yes, I played my cell phone # 8484 and won $50K (KY pick 4 straight). He then said he won $50K in April same scenario. Next day @ work asked him how much he plays everyday-$72/day!
She stuck with them. Nice!

That's awesome!
$25,000 a year for life, or a $390,000 lump sum.
how do they determine this Lump sum payout?
American Indian, Well you ever be Happy and enjoy Life again?
$10 straight bet...then he's got others in ($72) and I hope he hits with them..
Rosemary WTG and I'm happy for her but I'd sure have mixed feelings wishing it would have happened A LOT
sooner..she's 87
She looks very happy though and that's what matters for her.
The lump sum payout is the cost of an annuity that would pay $25,000 per year for a fixed period of time. With compounding at today's rates (5 yr CD is 1.67%), that fixed period is about 18 years. Considering she's 87, I think the lump sum option was a good choice.
