Calif. man claims half of $333M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
That is not the largest one - the Anaheim business that sold $315M ticket to lucky 7 group received a $1 000 000 bonus. Californian rules give retailer 0,5% of the jackpot ticket sold but the maximum amount has a $1 000 000 cap. So any retailer who sells a winning ticket for $200M or above gets his million. Of course it would be the business owner not the guy at the counter.

Winning Powerball lottery ticket expiring soon
I wonder if the retailer that sold the ticket will still get the $500 bonus for selling the ticket if nobody claims the money.

Critics renew call for lottery inquiry
Critics say a public inquiry into the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. is long overdue after police revealed they had no evidence to charge a former retailer who won 167 prizes worth $1.2 million over a nine-year period. There is a stink there, New Democrat justice critic Peter Kormos said yesterday, insisting a forensic audit of past winners first promised by lottery officials June 3 and again this week is not enough. It's not about the one retailer. It's about what has been going on

Winner of New York's biggest lottery jackpot sold himself the ticket
You are 100% right and I have noticed this too. This issue should really be brought to the attention of more people because I'm pretty sure they are not aware of it. For example, I have noticed the following: If I'm playing $1-$2 scratch games and get some of the lower-tier prizes ($1, $2, $4), when I bring those tickets to be cashed to a retailer, all they do is scan the bar code in the back of the ticket and it tells them that it's a winner and for that amount. Now I've noticed that let'

Georgia Fantasy 5 lottery player scores $95,000 jackpot
Nice story and his initials are the same as mine, RJJ. It's nice to read about someone who's happy to win a pick5 jackpot. Sounds like the retailer gets a nice bonus too, $4K for selling a $95K ticket. In Ohio selling a winning Rolling Cash5 ticket gets the retailer a $500 bonus regardless of the amount (usually $100K-$250K+).
