Texas trust claims second half $1.8 billion Powerball lottery jackpot
If the state lottery allows a trust to claim winnings, which obviously they did, there would be no justification that I am aware of to open an investigation. The trust collected the winnings. It is an investment firm.
The trust was not created to play the lottery. The state lotteries do not control where you deposit and invest your winnings.

Texas trust claims second half $1.8 billion Powerball lottery jackpot
Winner is from a family looking to serve their community while enjoying privacy
By Kate Northrop
A Texas trust has stepped forward to claim the second half of the historic $1.787 billion Powerball lottery jackpot, just a couple weeks after the Missouri winner had claimed their share.
On Monday, the Texas Lottery announced that a trust has claimed their share of the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot and plans on using their lottery winnings to serve their community.
The winner has fi

South Dakota trust claims $78 million Lotto Texas jackpot days before it expires
I thought Trusts were not allowed? Last time I checked it had to be a natural person and not an entity even if anonymous.
The state of the win controls so they now allowed a trust from the home of the winner for a second time. This does create an extra layer of anonymity. Interesting. I am wondering if other anonymous states would allow this as well.
This is a new strategy to me.

You win a big jackpot, what's your cover story?
I had an old family member put me in a trust shortly after I was born that I never knew about I couldn't touch until last fall when an attorney called . They were allegedly invested in gold/silver/palladium is my understanding but I am not fully aware of everything. I remember talking with them when I was little kid about saving/buying silver coins but had no idea I was a part of their trust or how big it actually is.

Texas trust claims second half $1.8 billion Powerball lottery jackpot
I have a question. Did the winner have to form a trust to claim the prize? I thought Texas allowed winners to remain anonymous. What are the benefits of using a trust in this instance?

Washington has no sales tax and you can claim through trust or llc. They'll release the trust or llc details if requested but you'd just form the llc in Delaware to keep anonymity. Same situation with Florida.

The more research I read on these debt asset protection trusts, the less I like them, at least for me.
When you place assets in an irrevocable Debt Asset Protection Trust (APT), you generally give up direct ownership and control over those assets to a third-party trustee to shield them from creditors. While you lose direct control, you can still structure the trust to benefit from the assets and dictate how they are managed through a trust.
These trusts are also IRREVOCABLE so you canno

Could you explain a double blind trust to me? No such thing and especially in terms of anonymity.
The states that allow anonymity or other options for claiming are listed in a topic pinned in the Jackpot forum.
A blind trust is a different entity. It is used primarily by people with financial assets that could place them in a conflict of interest with their job duties. I am sure President Trump has one and his children likely manage it. With a blind trust, someone else controls and mana

Who are you going to tell after you win the monday's powerball jackpot.
Jade,
I wish I could remember where I read that it's possible for an LLC to release a big lottery winners name etc, but I can't. And I know next to nothing about state laws as they relate to LLC's in your neck of the woods.
I've also read that The State of Delaware is the place where a big lottery winner can request an LLC because Delaware has laws that say they can never ever release the name of the owner of an LLC. (Or something to that effect anyway)
In Florida it seems that the
