Would you be happy or sad?
I'd have to temper my happiness for the person who won it with indifference over whether it was 500 billion or 500 million. I've looked around inside myself and can't find any element of concern about whether a jackpot's humongous or merely a large one. Even if I won it I doubt I would care. 20 million bucks is squared or cubed what I've ever seen, free and clear.I honestly don't understand why anyone would care whether someone else won a 500M jackpot, unless it was a direct line of inheritanc

Dream of teeth falling out
Wow. I had a dream of teeth falling out. It's pretty scary but this one sounds like a good dream. They usually say that teeth falling out means death. Perhaps an inheritance is in the air.

The only Americans that are RICH are the ones you see on TV in the Movies and hear on the Radio the rest of us are struggling or just making ends meet except for those that I mentioned that own there own business or have money from Lottery Winnings or Inheritance.

Winners wish they'd lain low
Isn't it sad that if you win from the lottery everyone thinks you should share the $ with them?Yet if you received $5 million from an inheritance nobody would dare say to you: *gimme some $*.It's pathetic that one way is considered rude the other isn't. IMO they're BOTH rude.

NY annuity winner STABBED
So, Cash what's your point you're trying to make? So, are you saying that if he chose LUMPSUM, and bought a great mansion, luxury cars and stuff, and still has a large amount of cash in his account, there ISN'T going to be any inheritance tax????

Cash,Grow up already. Not everything in LIFE is about choosing cash payments. The poor man was stabbed and you talk about inheritance taxes.BTW, he is NOT going to die. He was stabbed in his arms, legs and shoulder. He is NOT in critical condition.

NY annuity winner STABBED
Did you read the story Todd posted this morning? He hit Lotto on a ticket that was marked 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS (state regulations _prohibit_ winners from switching to cash). If he were to die (heaven forbid), imagine his heir(s) having to pay inheritance tax on the ENTIRE prize within 10 months? The deadline for paying the estate tax would be shortly after the heir(s) receive the second payment; barely 5% of the prize would have been paid, due to the structure of NY Lotto annuities.

The Ultimate Cash vs. Annuity Poll
Hypersonig:You have to worry about the possibility of your kids paying INHERITANCE TAXES if you die before you receive all the annuity payments. If you ever win, and seek financial, etc advice, they'll almost certainly tell you choose LUMP SUM, regardless of your prize. You also don't know what the future tax rates will be, etc.
