This morning when I logged on to my lottery software, there was a message sent to all users of the software by the company that sells it. (Interestingly the company is located in Clearwater) The message talked about the fact that FF5 now has two drawings per day, and if users want, there is a way to filter out the midday drawings, and just use/see data from the evening drawings. The message had instructions in it as to how to filter out the midday draws. So I now have a decision to make and

The reason why FF5 jackpots were so good and lower tier prizes were so bad is due to the percentages allocated to prizes of the winners prize pool. FF5's official rules show 62% of the winner's prize pool is used to fund the jackpot. The second place prize is 10% of the winners pool and the third place prize prize is 28% of the winners pool. The prize structure was purposely designed to provide a big jackpot and lousy lower tier prizes. The Florida Lottery are the one's that chose those allo

I haven't taken a look at the New York Lottery's website in a very long time. This morning I decided I'd take a look at it. Specifically I wanted to see the history of Take5 drawing results. I'm glad I took that look.... Typical Take5 jackpots were definitely cut in half, but almost every day the evening drawing jackpot amount was larger than the midday top prize amount. That's IF there even was a jackpot winner for the midday draw, and on many/most dates there was no jackpot winner.

Well it's been a heck of a long time since I posted here so I thought I'd put out a few things that might be of interest to players. ROLLDOWNS!! There have been quite a few of them since they went to two FF5 drawings per day..especially with the midday drawings. And dont think just because nobody won the jackpot that a four out of five number match will get you $555.00. Most times it will, but not always...last night's 4 out of 5 winners won a whopping $322. Number 27 is still the hotte

Good luck winning it. I tried for years and couldn't do it. I tried studying the numbers and looked at it from all kinds of different angles. The odds make it near impossible to get much out of it. Now with lower jackpots I don't care to continue to chase. It takes near 80-1 odds to just win a small dollar amount prize. Getting 4 numbers is very rare and all 5 seems a lot harder than what the odds say.

If the lottery terminals come online at 6 AM, then they cant sell tickets prior to that time. If they went offline at 12 AM, that'd be 6 hours of the midday sales window when tickets cant be sold. If the above is correct, then players shouldn't wonder why the midday jackpots are so low. G5

I thought I'd never say something like this but.......... What a shame. I matched three numbers again last night and won four Free Tickets with my ten line ticket and won a lousy $8.50. If the jackpots are going to be lower, what will the second and third place prizes look like after March 20th???? G5

OK I admit it. I'm a closet lottery player. I don't talk much lottery around people I associate with. I've no idea if they play the lottery regularly or not, and I don't ask them if they play the lottery either. Even if I did talk about the lottery with some of them, there'd be no way I'd mention I own and use lottery software. Been there. Done that. Seen the looks on their faces. Wanna sound smart the next time some casual lottery player tells you that they just buy QP's because QP's w

One jackpot winner of $134,666 last night. I'm not surprised it was that low. I went out to buy a ticket but found that the lottery terminal in Publix was down. With Southwest Florida laying in ruins I would think jackpots might be lower for some time to come. G5

But in one sense, adding another draw each day is in fact working. It's not working for the players, but it is working for The Florida Lottery. FF5 sales were down and they needed to boost them back to where they once were. And that's what has happened. The players aren't benefiting from it, but The Lottery is. So they got higher sales each day and we got lower jackpots. And you can see by my post above something called a midday jackpot does not even exist. G5
