Legislator demands greater scrutiny of Florida Lottery
Picker..California lottery Commission has its own Lottery Cops - they arrest vendor's and pull out their equipment if they play fast loose with the rules. The Host of To catch a Predator ( Chris Hanson ) did a ride along with some of the enforcers out here to nail some vendors who had crossed over to the dark side. The lottery out here does not mess around with crooked Vendors, its jail time. They did still do sting operations where they will have the Ca-lottery make a $500.00 scratch off

Mathematics and the Lottery
With retailers getting 5% of sales for selling and cashing in tickets, vendors probably getting 5% for supplying terminals and software and a staff of managers, security and maintenance people getting 10%, players would have to be giving up cashing in 40% of their prize money. Do you really feel that many winning tickets go unclaimed?

$590M Powerball winner still shops at Walmart
People have no idea how big Walmart really is. I was stunned to find out their revenues are about 10 times that of Amazon. Shocking. But they also nickel and dime their vendors but you make it up in sheer volume.

Would you tip the Store Clerk if you won big ?
I would tip. Only because 95% of the time I purchase my tickets from the same vendors. About 3 or 4 different ones. But they are all friendly so yes I would tip the person that sold me the lucky ticket. I would tip about 1% of whatever I won...So if I won 20 million I would tip $20,000.

Tech industry sets its sights on gambling
After scanning through the 150+page requirements that the Michigan lottery is asking system vendors for its proposed iLottery, seems like they want to do pretty much everything they have now plus new games over the internet/smartphones. That's a lot of electronic transactions taking place with regards to players buying wagers, winnings automatically deposited into players accounts etc. Maybe the technology is there now maybe not. Call me old fashioned I guess, but having a physical ticket seems

Proposal to ban welfare recipients from playing lottery
In New Jersey, welfare recipients who win the lottery have to pay back TANF and Section 8 funds and any overpayments from other social welfare programs that were awarded to them... On another note, how are vendors going to [know] the person was on welfare or in bankruptcy?

GTECH picked to run Indiana Lottery
Hey there Haymaker. Not only are all Kentucky Lottery employees prohibited from buying tickets in Kentucky, but so are members of our board of directors and all employees of lottery-specific vendors that we do business with (like GTECH who provides our draw game system, Scientific Games who prints our scratch-off tickets, etc.) The only caveat is with the Powerball game, and we're allowed to play that but ONLY out of state. Mega Millions does not provide that option.

A dime a dozen - Lottery Systems
You don't get that kind of service from vendors selling lottery systems and they're doing it for a living. LP members are just hobbyist who enjoy sharing ideas and information about lotteries. Beside what you are proposing sounds more like work than fun.

Report: Ill. lottery manager short $100M on profit
I've been waiting to see if there's any blowback from Powerball upping their cost from $1 to $2; this may be the first sign of an issue. I know powerball's idea was bigger initial jackpot, quicker to huge jackpots where more people play, more publicity, more money to states vendors ; I'm thinking this might not be the case afterall...
