A con artist who scammed the UK National Lottery of 2.5 million (US$3.06 million) by forging a winning ticket has been handed a wider window to pay back the funds he owes.

Winner claims state's biggest lottery jackpot this year

The lone winner of a $426 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot stepped forward this week to claim her prize.
Yesterday, the California Lottery announced Kristine Wellenstein as the state's biggest winner so far this year.
Back in January, the Mega Millions jackpot had reached an estimated $421 million, which had been bumped up to $426 million after the drawing took place on Jan. 28, 2022.

North Carolina Lottery winner of $10 million sentenced to life in prison for murder

A North Carolina Lottery winner who won a $10 million prize in 2017 has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of murder.
In 2017, Michael Todd Hill, 54, struck it big after winning $10 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket. After having been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Keonna Graham in 2020, he has now been handed a life sentence in prison.

Charles Dennis Engelhardt's legacy of state lottery winnings took a strange turn this month when Florida's unemployment offices (DEO) and Florida Lottery withheld his $600 Florida Lotto X winnings to cover part of a current debt balance of $1,799 for an unemployment overpayment.

A Miami man is Florida's newest millionaire after hitting it big playing the state lottery's Jackpot Triple Play game.
Daniel Alvarez, 49, claimed the $1.95 million jackpot after winning the February 25th drawing.
He chose to receive his winnings in a one time lump-sum payment of $1,492,240.62.
