Illinois Lottery decreases Lotto jackpot increments
Change to follow the drawing on Monday, July 13

The Illinois Lottery announced a change to its jackpot rollover increments on Tuesday.
After the drawing on Monday, July 13, 2020, the Lotto jackpot will increase by increments of $150,000 between drawings when a jackpot is not won. Such an increase is commonly referred to as a rollover .
The new rollover increase is down $100,000 from the current increase of $250,000.

Virtual lobby claim procedures and safety precautions in effect

Illinois lottery players will find it easier to claim winnings in person now that four out of five of the state's claim centers are open.

Illinois Lottery releases 2020 MS Project instant ticket
100% of ticket proceeds fund research and treatment for people living with multiple sclerosis
The Illinois Lottery this week released its annual MS Project scratch-off ticket, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Greater Illinois Chapter of the National MS Society. All proceeds from this ticket go to The MS Research Fund, which is devoted to finding a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS) and providing treatment for those living with the disease.

Illinois Lottery winner puts half of $500,000 prize into Bitcoin
An Illinois resident who won $500,000 in the state lottery has revealed he put half of it into Bitcoin (BTC) back in May.
Reddit user Joxnlol posted an image of himself clutching the Illinois state lottery check on Nov. 5, with the caption: Did this. Then put half into BTC in May. Remind me in 8 months if I f****d up.
Later, Joxnlol posted multiple images of himself and the winning ticket as proof of his claim.

Corrections officer charged with forging lottery ticket worth $20,000
An Illinois correctional officer has been charged with forging a lottery ticket worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Darrell Barry, 46, is charged in Cook County with a felony count of fraud and a felony count of violation of Illinois lottery law, Illinois State Police said in a statement.
Barry turned himself into the custody of state police on July 12 at the Chicago Police District 1 headquarters, 1718 S. State St., state police said.

Illinois Lottery glitch causes trouble for retailers, including overpayment to winners
The Illinois Lottery's transition to a new central gaming system has caused trouble for some retailers, including overpayments to winners.
The ticket validation issue was discovered Feb. 20 and resolved the same day, said Illinois Lottery spokesman Jason Schaumburg, who didn't know how much extra money was awarded.

The winner of a $4 million prize sold at a Chicago gas station for the Feb. 23, 2018 Mega Millions drawing has just 30 days to claim their prize.

Illinois Lottery fixes problem that prevented some ticket sales
Pick 3 and Pick 4 games were affected
Several lottery players in Illinois were unable to purchase Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets from retailers Tuesday, just before the midday drawing.
Around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Lottery officials said that the technical issue they experienced with Pick 3 and Pick 4 has been resolved.

Lottery ticket leads FBI to Illinois bank robbery suspect
Sometimes when you win, you really lose.
Such is the case for Arlington Heights resident Dexter L. Riley, whose good fortune in the Illinois lottery helped the FBI link him to a bank robbery last month in Palatine.
The FBI on Thursday announced Riley, 38, is charged with holding up the Chase Bank at 1131 E. Dundee Road on Sept. 28, getting away with more than $8,250 in the heist.
It's what authorities say Riley left behind a scratch-off lottery ticket that led to his undoing.
