Okla. Lottery Commission struggles to meet its 35% profit requirement
As a result of the finance and audit committee's dreary budget forecasts for fiscal year 2008, the Oklahoma Lottery Commission is planning to trim costs and attempt to get a key statutory requirement of the commission eliminated.
The board plans to try to amend out a requirement that the Lottery Commission post a 35-percent profit in their third year of operations.
The board said they are doing all they can to trim operating costs without cutting current staff and advertising expenditures,

Tennessee Lottery takes back refund offer
Today the Tennessee Lottery rescinded its offer from last week to refund tickets purchased with the wrong jackpot amount listed.
In a release issued on their web site, the Tennessee Lottery emphatically stated, The Tennessee Lottery is not offering refunds for Powerball tickets purchased last week.
The Lottery regrets any confusion or inconvenience created by recent reports concerning some tickets sold on Sept. 6 and the morning of Sept. 7, 2007.

Maryland Lottery revenues hit record $1.5 billion
The Maryland Lottery's sales for the past fiscal year topped $1.5 billion, a record high, marking the lottery's 10th consecutive year of sales growth, lottery officials reported yesterday.

Education funding doesn't see expected boon; officials cite low prize payouts as root cause
With sales floundering compared to projections, Oklahoma Lottery officials are scrambling to bring in more money.
State officials are saying the lottery hasn't been the boon to educational funding it was touted to be.

Kentucky Lottery has record revenues
The Kentucky Lottery Corp. had a record $744 million in revenues, or total ticket sales, in the fiscal year ending June 30, according to year-end figures.

Lottery Not Blaming Slots for Flat Sales
Pennsylvania's lottery sales stumbled in the just-ended fiscal year as slot machines came on line finishing flat after a half-decade of huge gains spurred by bigger games, more retailers and glitzier advertising.

Georgia Lottery sets sales record with $3.4 billion sales
The Georgia lottery took in a record $3.4 billion dollars during the last fiscal year a $244 million jump from the previous year.
Officials say more than $850 million was transferred to the education fund, which pays for HOPE scholarships and pre-kindergarten classes. That brings the total funds raised to nine-point-three billion since the lottery began in 1993.

Kansas Lottery sets sales record
The Kansas Lottery hits the jackpot itself record sales are recorded for the fiscal year ended June 30th.
