Someone could have had a few extra presents under the tree this year, had they checked their Mega Millions lottery ticket before Christmas.
A $1 million prize that was won in a June Mega Millions drawing went unclaimed, the Maryland Lottery confirmed on Monday.

A Maryland man who unknowingly struck gold with a scratch-off also hit the jackpot with his choice of friends, as the lotto player's pal alerted him to the big win after he had discarded the ticket.

A Maryland man who collected a $1 million lottery jackpot is no stranger to lottery headquarters this was his fourth major win.

Maryland postal worker wins $10 million scratch-off lottery jackpot
Woody Simmons sat in his car and screamed.
Thankfully, it was for good news the Maryland man had just realized that he won $10 million in a Virginia lottery scratch-off game.

Maryland man wins lottery twice at same convenience store
A Silver Spring, Maryland, man won a state lottery game twice at the same convenience store a rare occurrence, lottery officials said.
Jorge Matamoras, a 39-year-old who works in construction, won $5,000 in March on a scratch-off game called 20X The Cash. Then a few weeks later, he won again only more.
