Its called targeted distribution.  Sarasota has been a hot bed for tickets, good on the folks down there.  I happen to in an area that on the other end of the spectrum.

I agree. Skeptics wins are mind boggling but he would not even win 1/10th of those $500s if he played in my area.

Tried one of the new $30 ticket (#003) from Wawa and won $30. At least it paid for one more to try.

Nice. I am going to scratch mine after dinner. The guy was busy today, so he let me come around the counter and open/activate the packs for him. I then took the ones I wanted and paid him. He made 5% off of me doing all the work.lol If I lose it is my fault as I picked through the packs and opened them by pack #'s that caught my attention.

Hey JAMES - GIB - LONE RANGER - OLD SCHOOL - DUCKMAN and if I missed someone (too bad :) LOL - all I know is that at certain times there is a flood of GRT wins here. By ZIP ? I don't know. One time about two years ago the UPS guy just delivered one book of GRT to this small grogery store I stop by for the newspaper once in a while - they were out of GRT so this was their new book for the week. I bought it and boom a Nugget. Before I bought the book I asked where else was he headed ? He told me where ....... so on a hunch I went to the next four stops and bought the one bought of GRT he just left. Mind you, this was all on a FRIDAY delivery! Each place I stopped and bought the new book was either a nugget or $500. ONe liquor store had just received 4 books from the UPS guy - I bought all 4 and each one had a Nugget or $500. All total I got around $800 to $1200 back for each book. I

I'll hit 3 different Publix - one is great for GRT wins, the second is OK and the 3rd stinks. I think the best one (Publix) gets preferred treatment from the Lottery. I know a few guys including BIG JIM - he will hit a $500 every now and then and last year he hit a $1K - only one ticket a day. He buys at that Publix .....STEVE the midget - shortest guy I know - he  buys just one or two at the same Publix and  gets a NUgget every now and then but a lot of $100's too....... how can that be ? How can one store put out so many $500's so often ?The one gas station I just hit the other day I had never been to before, I got two #29's worth $500 each. But its not too far from the place that one guy won $10M and $1M on the old BDB. My fav gas station here where I used get a lot if winners changed ownership a few weeks ago and is now a 7-11 and I stopped buying there just recently becuase almost every GRT i bought was a loser. Why ? Different owners ?

Best I did was get TWO Nuggets from the last 5 GRT's on a roll ....... yeah that one Publix ..........but I never hit a $1K on GRT. I tried Sweetbay and never had the luck lije as that one Publix. WHy ?

Co incidences YES - two $500 GRT's from the same publix - same time - one from the counter other from the top bin on the machine ........ two $500 #29's same place same time. Why ??? I have no idea why. WHy did the lady near Orlando win twice at the same Publix ??? I can't FIX a win on a scratcher - not like wheeling numbers for the LOtto or Fan 5 - so it has to be like GIB said - right time right place ............... a past member was B$RIZZLE - who won $250K on a $10.00 christmas scratcher - he posted the ticket too - he bought ten, put them in a Christmas stocking and his wife popped open the GOOD one .

Well my results were typical PA results.

          $1 Money bags (000-006) = $14 (including 1-$10 winner)

$2 Dublin Dollars (000-009) = $25 Too many symbols to decipher, so I might have missed some

          $5 Aces and Eights (057-059) = $5

          $5 Match for Cash (057-059) =  0

          $5 Lucky Hearts = 0

          $5 Leprechaun Loot ( 000-005, 000) = $15 000-004 were losers and then $5 and $10(000 from another roll)

          $10 Crazy Wild Cash ( 000-004) = $70 a $20, $40 and $10 winners

$30 Three Million (000-002,005) 002 had Star symbol for $30

So that is $159 out of $267.. Like James said in another thread. The $30 odds are PUTRID. Same odds to hit $100 or $500 on the $20's. The #'s go up to 70 and are a different font.  Leprechaun was a tough scratch for me. The coating didn't come off well. the $10 CWC looks good. Nice colors.. Hope the rest of you have some better stories on the new tickets

Skeptic, Many moons ago, early 2012, it was somewhat like that here, about ever month a good set of tickets would come in, I knew if I found a $500 ticket, chances were real good I was going to find another one the same day or the next. Then everything died, was on the verge of giving it up back then, thats when the 10k came along, and kept me going.  I would say July 12 to present (blew 180 today and nothing) tickets are awful. I have spent lots chasing, I tell they just arent here, Im not a 1 or 2 ticket guy, I have spent a fortune trying to find them. Even the clerk at publix get excited when you bring a 500 ticket in, she will say oh this is the second one I have seen this week....really! I just dont thing bad streaks last from july 12 to date.  My normal day is spend 100-200 and win and 30 and/or a 40 dollar ticket.

These numbers are from a spreadsheet I got from lottery over a year ago, so grt has had a couple of reprints since.  There were 328 1k or above tickets sold in this area 9 were in the zips i play in.

            biggest hit 10k, Jubilee, 5K Miami Heat, 2K Emerald 8s, 1k jubilee, 1k GRT, 1k heat wave, multiple 500's

good luck in the chase 2013 wins, maybe 4 500's

              2 $10 10X Cash (#20, 21)- #21 won $45

              $5 Great Big Bingo (#1, 2)- #2 won $5

Not much better here. Crazy Wild Cash won $50 on one ticket, but 6 in a row of the new $5 game lost.. probably stinks as badly as last year's St. Patrick's Day game. #023 on the $30 also lost. Will scratch #024 later.

Last day of this kind of spending for a while. PA hasn't improved despite my one big win.

Bad news: Blew thru $240 on GRT today

Good news: Cousin coming back from deployment tomorrow and were heading to the casino. Now this guy is very lucky. Hit $50K on a slot, $10K BDB, $5K Jubilee etc. Does not like to talk about how much he plays though he did lose a large chunk chasing the million and quit cold for a year, minus a few tickets here and there. Military will get discipline in you. Maybe I need to join lol, I will never learn. Anyway going to be playing BJ and if I win I will give the $100 slots a go, maybe ONE spin of the $500 slot 50/50. Def no $1K slot I cant deal with that.

skeptic-thanks for your take on it. it truly seems like there are weeks when there are tons of HUNs and FHNs on Gold Rush here in the State Road 70 sector/Lakewood Ranch. There are also cold weeks. Certain places never pump out more than a 30-40 win or even a money back. Hate to say it but the places run by foreigners never ever seem to have winning tickets. BP and 7-11 and certain Publix have been our most successful spots. The Publix at University Blvd in LWR and the other two Publix on LWR BLVD just to the north have all been good. The rest seem to be rubbish. The slum gas stations/quik stops all over Bradenton/Sarasota seem to all be rubbish as well. part of it is timing--have to be in the right place at the right time. part of it like you said is the store. part of it is the roll. the clerk at my nearby BP said tells me how the rolls are doing. the 100X rolls they are on are hot right now. 1000 and 500 winners back to back and multiple HUNS throughout the roll totalling well over $2000 per roll in winnings that people have cashed from the same roll. their $20 rolls dont seem to ever do very well, but their $10 rolls seem to do quite well. Its strange. Its as if you have to play certain games from certain places and avoid certain places entirely. i do think that if you continue to loose from a place, the idea that you will eventually be compensated for your hard work is a falisy and you will continue to loose. the places where you are treated rudly by the clerks or when they dont even give you a courtesy of knowing anything about the lottery--a simple congrats when you cash a winning ticket or hey, someone just bought a $100 winner on that game, or this roll is on the last ticket sure you want to buy it still are places i just dont feel like playing at. i try to stay pretty private with them about our wins but sometimes by revealing your success they reveal how things have been going and can guide you. thats my 50 cents for the night. won two HUNs today on GRT finally after a <snip>ty week. each ticket was 10 matches of $10. Stupid flamingo fortune has even been doing well lately...by well i mean $20 and $40 each time LOL. never ever got more than $100 on that dumb game. I hope by insulting it, it will laugh at me and give me a winner.

***on a separate note, i must add that FL Lotto does have the best grapic designer compared to the other states. most of you non FL guys posting here your tickets look like a 2 year old designed them.

the new flamingo scratches just like the $3 bejewled ticket. both games must be from the same company. it makes scratching in your car tidy. i hate getting the scratch dust everywhere lol. drives me nuts, no matter how clean i try to be it finds its way into everything like beach sand

                        Aint that the truth. lol

have you guys seen any losing ticket codes like VCW or others that are actually winning tickets? I came across a pic on page 13 of the FL scratch offs forum of a thousand dollar winner on a single ticket match but it had a non winning code. makes me wonder if any of the non winners in my heap are a winner because usually if i accidentally scratch one of the letters and see a non winning code i dont like to check the ticket thoroughly coz it makes me mad. by the way is it stupid to hang on to the non winners for the tax write off purpose or do you have to have a receipt showing the calendar year you purchased the ticket in?

                              Some info -

Topic 419 - Gambling Income and Losses

The following rules apply to casual gamblers. Gambling winnings are fully taxable and must be reported on your tax return. Gambling income includes, but is not limited to, winnings from lotteries, raffles, horse races, and casinos. It includes cash winnings and also the fair market value of prizes such as cars and trips. For additional information, refer to Publication 525, Taxable and Nontaxable Income.

A payer is required to issue you a Form W-2G (PDF), Certain Gambling Winnings, if you receive certain gambling winnings or if you have any gambling winnings subject to federal income tax withholding. All gambling winnings must be reported on your Form 1040 (PDF) as "Other Income" (line 21), including winnings that are not subject to withholding. In addition, you may be required to pay an estimated tax on your gambling winnings. For information on withholding on gambling winnings, refer to Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax.

You may deduct gambling losses only if you itemize deductions. However, the amount of losses you deduct may not be more than the amount of gambling income reported on your return. Claim your gambling losses on Form 1040, Schedule A (PDF) as an "Other Miscellaneous Deductions" (line 28) that is not subject to the 2% limit. A nonresident alien of the United States cannot deduct gambling losses on Schedule A of Form 1040NR (PDF).

It is important to keep an accurate diary or similar record of your gambling winnings and losses. To deduct your losses, you must be able to provide receipts, tickets, statements or other records that show the amount of both your winnings and losses. Side note --

I have a friend that lost in an IRS audit because he didn't keep a diary that showed how much he spent per day and the losing tickets that corresponded with that daily amount. He had over $20K (not just lottery) in winnings that year and collected scratch offs from the garbage cans. It didn't work for him...Every year at tax time, we have a good laugh together!
