Play the same winning numbers ten times and somebody else wins. Your share would be 9/10. What ever lotteries say, they can lie bricks and they just want you to play to earn money.

In fact a million first price as guarantee is nice. For the small prices the fun is small. For the odds the payout is still small as they take money for themselves and organising the games. (...)

Fair game? No, the rake is huge.

You're right, but I dont care if it's a fair game or not.  And you're also correct that the pari-mutuel aspect of the game can be defeated by playing the same line ten times.  I've seen that very thing happen in NY's Take5.

All I care about is that I'm having fun playing, and who knows, I might get very lucky and win a million bucks.

About playing the lottery --  You will lose more than you win. Until you hit a jackpot.  Then everything changes!

I thought I'd expand upon what I said in my previous post.

I get the fact that the lottery is a sucker's bet.  If some one is playing the lottery a lot, and does not appreciate that fact, then they probably shouldnt be playing.  I also appreciate the fact that I probably wont ever win a jackpot.

So why do I play?  Beacuse I'm having fun doing it.  That's why.

Does the house have a huge advantage over players?  Of course they do!!  The State of New York wouldnt offer lottery games to the public if they didnt.  Hell, there wouldnt be such a thing as Atlantic City or Las Vegas if that wasnt true.  Casinos arent ever going to lose, everybody understands that, but people flock to those cities anyway.  And they spend billions of dollars there.

Are there "smart" ways to play online lottery games?  (Maybe I shouldnt use the word "smart", maybe I should say "clever".)  I think there are.  I'd call playing the same line multiple times to defeat a pari-mutuel system "smart" or clever.  The same thing is true with playing Sweet Million like I do.  (Playing the same line twice on one ticket.)

My point is; I play to have fun, I dont overspend, I play what I can afford to lose because I know how badly the odds are stacked against me. The only thing I really know about playing any lottery game is I can not ever win if I dont play.  So I give myself the opportunity to win, even though I know it's a miniscule chance.  Do I walk around expecting to win?  Hell no!  I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment.

About playing the lottery --  You will lose more than you win. Until you hit a jackpot.  Then everything changes!

At least you play for real and give yourself a chance.

The 40 came back last nite after having skipped 21 draws.  It lead's the pack having been out 17 times this year.  The 10, 11,16 and 23 are right behind it at 16 times.  Looks like it could be the number that'll be drawn the most this year.  If it comes out 5 or 6 more times in the next 30 drawings, then it will probably be the hottest number of 2013.

I've been playing the 40 on a few of my lines each drawing.  Caught it and the 35 last nite but nuthin else.

I've been doing some "analysis"....  (This could be dangerous)

I looked at the SM drawings in the years of 2010, 2011, & 2012 individually.   Each year, a different number was the hottest number of the year, (no surprise there) and the expected frequencey for any number is 16 for each year. (No surprise there either)

There are approximately 30 drawings left this year.  The 40 is the favorite right now to come out the most in 2013.  (it's been out 17 times YTD) But the 10, 11, 16 or 23 could easily pass it.  (They've been out 16 times, and a number such as 2 could get super hot and blow them all away.  It's been out 13 times YTD.)

          At any rate, from now until 12/31/13, I'm going to use at least two of the following numbers in all of my lines; 2, 3, 14, 25, 26, 6, 18, 39, 10, 11, 16, 23 & 40.

Those are the numbers that are in contention to become the hottest number(s) of the year.  I figure one of them will end up having been drawn 22 or 23 times in 2013.  In each of the three years I looked at, a couple of numbers came out that many times.  My guess is it'll happen again in 2013, so I'll try to capitalize on it.

            Tonites winning Sweet Millions numbers are: 8 14 18 25 26 31

Four of tonites numbers are from the hottest numbers of 2013. (14 18 25 26)  I hit a 3 out of 6 for 3 bucks.

The 40 is still on top having been drawn 17 times.  The 18 moves up to second place with 16 hits in 2013, and the 14, 25 & 26 move up to 15 hits.

              HA! I hit also 3 of 6 numbers 8-14-18...had another line (QP - 7-8-13-14-24-34 missed by 1 on another 3 of 6)

notice 1 play in the last 4 with out a DOUBLE 30's or more showing.

Yeah, I saw that the 30's are a bit thin lately.  They might come roaring back next Thursday nite.

Here's a better way of showing what I was talking about in my post last nite wth regard to the hottest numbers for 2013.

                    Amen!!!!!!!!!!

                    It's got to Happen soon.

Here's a better way of showing what I was talking about in my post last nite wth regard to the hottest numbers for 2013.

Thanks for the info Give5 , between you and SergeM I have alot to work on/look over.  I am still keeping it simple tonight with PRESSING the 30's...GL eveyone!

Kap, not to put you information overload, but I've been doing some thinking about SM.

I used the US Lotteries website to tell me a few things about the SM numbers drawn in 2010, 2011, and 2012. (I broke out each year separately)

In each of those three years, there were only 4 numbers that were drawn more than 20 times during the year.  Each year, the numbers were different, but the one thing each year had in common with the other two years is they all had 4 numbers that were drawn greater than 20 times.  A number being drawn 24 times in one year is ALOT.  That's 24 out of 104 drawings, or 23 percent of the drawings held in each year. Most numbers are drawn about 16 times per year or in 15 percent of the drawings.

So what does this mean for 2013?

Well, right now, there are 8 numbers that have a good shot at being drawn more than 20 times in 2013.  The 40 leads the way having been drawn 17 times in 2013.  The other seven numbers have all been drawn 16 times this year. (They are: 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 23 & 25)   I think possibly 3 numbers in that set, and the 40 will get hot in the remaining 30 drawings of this year and go past the 20 line.  Because of that, I'm gonna play them heavy between now and year end.

There are three numbers sitting at having been drawn 15 times YTD, but they'd have to be drawn in 6 of the remaining 30 drawings this year to break the 20 barrier.  Any number that's been drawn 14 times or less this year probably wont even make it to 20.  Of course any number could get super hot and come from way behind and blow past 20, but I kind of think that's not gonna happen.

About playing the lottery --  You will lose more than you win. Until you hit a jackpot.  Then everything changes!
