I never said continue. The question was, "Should you vote for and support policies that benefit only the rich as you wait to win the lottery?"
The question is really asking should we vote and support policies that work against our own financial interest, while we wait to win the lottery.
During this slow moving recovery the rich have pocketed over 60% of the incomes. A democracy can't sustain itself without hope in the minds of the poor and middle class people. Ronald Regan even knew this basic fact.
My answer is that if everyone worked against their own interest, there would be no functioning country to enjoy your winnings.
Don't know how I missed this the first time around, but googler you just reciting things you've heard and somehow have managed to put a weird ass spin on things.
First of all, why are you sitting around waiting to win the lottery ?
You'll waste your life away if your sitting around waiting for something that probably won't happen.
Take the bull by the horns and make something happen, the fact that your on the internet and have a computor tells me , your supporting the very rich you feel the need to condemn,
Since your waiting for your lottery winfall, tell me, will you give it all away to the needy? Then whats the point of sitting around waiting to get rich ?
no, you have what's called class envy, your complaining about the very thing you want to become, rich.
well, let me tell you this little man, most self made millionaires made their money with a dream, an idea and hard work. They didn't sit around waiting.
Get off your lazy ass and make a life for yourself, and hellllllllllll no, I won't vote for people who will take my <snip> away and just give it to you.

Don't confuse yourself to much barbie doll , never said you couldn't afford to live in your cute log cabin, just your unable to make it in this world
with your peers. People can't accept your force fed one sided lib frenzied, my way or the highway philosophy. You just cant bear the thought
of listening and critiquing other peoples point of view, so you resort to bashing those who threaten your fragile ego as a virtual bully.
I see you've been checking out my profile, and yes I have built a commercial cleaning service from scratch over 16 years ago, and currently
employ 16 full time people. As many of my competitors are out of business with this crappy economy, at least I can say I'm helping people
to put food on the table and moving this country in a better direction. I don't have to toot my own horn barbie, but I own an upscale townhouse
and trade in my Mercedes every two years, and work only if I want to.
Yeah in my 50's and still run marathons and do 200 mile bike tours. If we ever have the "pleasure" to meet, why don't we take in a local 5K
if your up to it old man? I'll bet you $10,00.00 I'd smoke your fat ass. That is if you can still "move it and shake it"
LOL, you're a laugh a minute, McDoofus.
"...your unable to make it in this world with your peers."
Unable to make it in this world with my peers? You're kidding, right? Do you even know what a peer is? Let me enlighten you. It's a person of the same standing or rank. Do you honestly think you're my peer, numbnuts? You clean people's toilets. Do you think I clean people's toilets? No, I don't. You're not my peer, bubby, never were, never will be. Period.
And beyond that, any peer of mine would be familiar with the English language and know what a contraction is and you have shown in the above quote that you don't. I've explained that to you on previous occasions and I don't know why I'm even telling you again, knowing you lack the cerebral wherewithall to even know what I'm talking about or what to look for.
A business owner? Hah! You can't even communicate in the written word of your native language. You're just a toilet cleaner. That's your lot in life. That's your legacy.
I'll not have a blithering idiot like you lecturing me on anything, the least of which would be my "making it in this world with my peers." What a moron you are.
"I have built a commercial cleaning service from scratch over 16 years ago, and currently employ 16 full time people. "
No you don't, you work for a maid service and clean people's houses and toilets. No reason to be ashamed, it's an honest living.
"I own an upscale townhouse and trade in my Mercedes every two years, and work only if I want to."
No you don't, you live in a cheap, dumpy apartment building. No reason to be ashamed, it's all you can afford working for a maid service.
You drive the cheapest model Mercedes available (an old one) and it's just for show like all the Cadillacs parked in front of public housing projects. Do you have a couple gold-capped teeth too? That's another way low-class people like you think they're going to impress somebody when they ain't got a pot to piss in. Chances are, the only people you're impressing are the other low-income types in your apartment building.
You work only when you want to? LOL. No, you work when the maid service calls you and tells you there's toilets that need cleaning. No need to be ashamed, doofus, we're all friends here. Just be yourself, be honest, tell the truth. You'll find that we're very accommodating here. We don't care what your social status is. Most of us (including me) would even extend a hand in friendship if we saw you on the street. That is, as long as you wash your hands real good after cleaning those toilets.
"...still run marathons and do 200 mile bike tours."
Really? Wow, I'm impressed! I bet you look spectacular in your spandex with all the other limp-wristed pansies on their bicycles. Do you have a little rearview mirror on your helmet for safety? LMAO!
Sorry if I'm not too well-versed on those manly lib pastimes up there in lib-land but down here men hunt and fish and shoot, we don't ride bicycles with the kiddies. And the terrain I hunt on you couldn't pedal your little bicycle through, sister-boy. You couldn't hack these ridges on a hunt, bicycle-boy. Not that you'd know which end of a gun to use anyway.
So go run your liberal BS and anti-God BS somewhere else, numbnuts.
It ain't gonna fly here.
We ain't as stupid as you think we are.
Here you tell the truth and leave people's religious beliefs alone.
Cuz when I see you lying or taking a cheap-shot on somebody's religion, I'll call you out on it.

I love this poll question! Talk about straight out of the 'Occupy' crowd. I voted "YES" because I have never worked for a poor person. I like rich people. The 1% pay the vast majority of the taxes. I strive to make more money every year. Who doesn't?
It's average people that get the work of this country done every year and most of them are working for someone with some wealth. All the hourly employees working for construction companies, trucking companies, oil companies, natural gas suppliers, and many other businesses keep this country going for the wealthy business owners that took the chance and started the business.
So, Occupy-er. Stop f******g whining and go get a job! You tools make me sick.

And this thread is one huge reason why I love Lottery Post. Y'all're hysterical.(a super-duper-contraction just for Ridge **smooch**)
For the question which started the thread - I'm with Sully on this one...
WHAT IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY YOU ASK ?
Well, Googler thats a very long list, Starting with new leadership is job one, we don't have any right now, vote them all out.
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO WITH YOUR/MY WINNINGS YOU ASK?
Nothing, Jesus would never steal someones lottery winnings, he has bigger fish to fry with all the evil in the world.
Firmly I believe that since God stopped the sun, parted the red sea, brought water from a rock, raised the dead, healed the blind,(or would that be 'visioned' instead of healed???) and put cash in the mouth of a fish (to name just a few published miracles) - that He could create gold from thin air if He had a need.
So what would God want **me** to do with any winnings that he blessed me with? That my fellow Lottery Post Poster would be between God and me and would most likely only be evident to me after considerable prayer and fasting.
..............
I did enjoy what happygirl said...
Very well said Elizabeth. We must take care of ourselves first then we do our best to help others..
It reminds me of what we use to say back in the day to the 'customers' - please put on YOUR oxygen mask prior to putting one on your child... but my quandry is: are we really in the same position as air travelers who have lost pressure and oxygen - thus needing the same level of self-service - first?
---------------
Which only leaves me with questions relating to the beloved nick-names. LOLOL - and until I can stop chortling, I suppose those will have to wait.

LOLOL - so my grand-son strolled by as I was chuckling... he stopped and asked me 'nana - what's so funny?' so i 'translated' the back and forth on this thread thusly for my fledgling future lottery post poster.
"Well Simon - two of my learned colleagues online here are talking about polar opposite positions... both of them are vehement in their beliefs and staunch in their support of same. Over time, their arguments have devolved to a kind of 'short-hand' speech/texting that in few words/key strokes gets across VOLUMES of information.
It's much like when your teacher explains that the 'context' of the pictures in your books matters as much as the 'settings'."
At this point my grand-son grinned at me and said "yeah right nana - you mean that the adults are doing stuff that kids would get in trouble for"

The whole basis of any credible economic theory is that trade is made of "win," so to speak. In other words, trade makes us wealthier. This can be explained simply by the example of me buying a book. If I pay 10 dollars for a book, I'm not 10 dollars poorer, because I expect the information in that book to be worth MORE than the 10 dollars to me, and the book retailers expect my 10 dollars to be more valueable to them than the book. Now we're both richer, because we traded things which we had different values for. I wouldn't have made the trade if I didn't believe it was in my interest to do so, and neither would they have.
So implying that policies that benefit the rich hurt me are logically flawed. Why would hurting rich people help me? Quiet simply, it wouldn't help me, at all. If anything, raising taxes on the highest income earners may HURT me, because then I may not have a job, and it'd be tougher to find a better job when that time comes.
So if you're asking "while you aren't rich, should you support lowering taxes on the rich, in case you are one day?" then my answer is yes, I would support that. Not just because I wouldn't want to pay high taxes if I was rich, but because it's immoral to force other people to pay higher taxes because I'm not as rich as them.

Wealth is a great thing, and income disparity is literally irrelevant. I've never understood why people think it's a useful statistic, comparing the poorest, or average, to the richest. Why should it matter if the rich are making 20 times or 1000 times as much as you? Shouldn't the only thing that matter be whether or not you, the average, or poor or doing OK or good?
Say you had a standard unit of wealth. Let's call this 1 unit, since dollars change in value, and I want to assume that this "unit" has a consistent value, and would increase in supply only as production increased. Would you rather that the 1) average takes in 1000 units a year, while the rich take in an average 1 billion units a year or 2) the average take in 100 units, but the rich only take in 1 million?
In the first scenario, income disparity is 1 million to one.
In the second, income disparity is 1000 to one.
But clearly the first scenario is much, much preferable to everyone, because total output is much higher, and total output for the average person is much higher.

I like rich people too because I believe in capitalism. I am not rich but I do like envious individuals. The occupy wall street movement is full of it. I wish more prosperity for all rich people.
This right here is the difference between the left and the right. People on the right wish for "more prosperity for all rich people". People on the left wish for prosperity for EVERYONE.
Trickle-down economics didn't work under Reagan and they're not going to work now, no matter what fancy name they try to give it.
