Crickets ? I was gone for 20 minutes,

mind if I look at other threads ?

as to your ?

at 70% I wont be playing so I guess its a moot point.

You're right, I wouldn't play when the JP reached 587 million at a 70% tax rate. I just couldn't possibly live on $176,100,000.

Seriously if you were the one who just won that 587 million dollar jackpot....Would you really care how much taxes you had to pay??? Be realistic now....I don't want to see ansewrs like if the taxes were a 100% or 75% yeah I'd care....Well stop cause they're not... I live in NC it's 32% here that's reality.... 32% isn't going to kill anybody financially....I mean this is more money that ANY OF US HERE WILL EVER EARN IN 30 LIFETIMES.....I could care less how much I paid  in taxes...I would just be glad I was able to pay it.....SERIOUSLY........

It would be funny if they tax lottery winnings at 75%.

Oh, I forgot that the lottery is tax already.

I agree with you 100%, it would be insane to play. Saving our money instead playing wouldn't be a bad idea. I know you see the lottery as entaintment. Don't you?

The other night Yahoo Finance had an article about the couple in Missouri that won the PB and if they had won after this fiscal cliff situation and it goes 'wrong', it would have cost them an addittinal $17.7M in taxes.

        That's not exactly chump change.

I can't agree with you on this, B2B, since the U.S, taxes gambling winnings while a lot of countries don't. The UK, Canada, Australia, and others, whatever you win is yours. As it should be.

        Just my $.02

I see a tax free lottery coming soon, please forgive me I was having a dream.lol

It's called sarcasm. Of course I'd still play. You couldn't live with 176 million? Crazy

Would you pay $5 for a single line with a $100M starting jackpot?

No, I'd wait till it got to about 400 million and only buy one QP.

Are you trying to copy the Connecticut asset managers? They won a $254M PB jackpot with a $1 Quick Pick Ticket.

So how long would it take to save oh let's say 587 million dollars...vs....spending oh let's say $10 like the folks in Missouri and then just winning half the jackpot?? I'm sure the odds were against them but....why can't we do both?? Whatever you spend on lottery tickets.....take the same amount and save it....if you want....I play $2 to $5 and there isn't alot you can buy with two dollars anyway...other than a lottery ticket.....you gotta be in it....to win it...
